Who will be the next Batman villain? (no spoilers in first post)

I'm thinking it will be one of the following (the first few need no introduction, imo):
Two-FaceThe RiddlerHarley QuinnHushDeadshotBaneThalia al Ghul (Ra's al Ghul's daughter. the chick from transformers would be physically ideal but can she act?)Nyssa Raatko (another daughter of old Al)Catwoman (too easy to fuck up, but still plausible).Mr. Zsasz (a serial killer, and he had a cameo in Batman Begins)

Nolan has said that he will not do a Penguin because he's too goofy. I think that Mad Hatter is also too goofy. On a slightly related note, Nolan has also said that he will never, ever, have Robin in his Batman movies so everyone can let out a sigh of relief.

My thoughts are that there needs to be another female character.

OBLIGATORY SPOILER WARNING AFTER THIS POST
(don't read this thread if you haven't seen the movie)

harley is a construct of the animated series and will never be in these movies.

the whole this suit won't work well with dogs, maybe cats is the only thing pointing to catwoman and that may be very easy to fuck up.

mr. reese (the scumbag lawyer who was going to expose wayne) as someone else pointed out may be a candidate for the riddler. mr. reese = mysteries

there's the chance they'll bring back dent, but it fucks with the you either die a hero (which as far as gotham knows, dent did) or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain (what happened to bats after he takes the rap for dent's killings)

the point is that this was a film about escalation and corruption to the point that batman begins seems grossly tame and boring by comparison. the next film would see batman hated and hunted and would probably require a villain to exacerbate that. bruce being exposed is possible but i actually don't think they'll go there.

Here is a list of other villains that can be done realistically, not saying they will ever, but easily can be done with todays technology

FireflyDetective Comics #184 (June 1952)Garfield Lynns, an orphan who became a pyromaniac and has developed a fireproof suit and flamethrower to further pursue his 'hobby'. He was originally known as a cunning criminal who invented numerous weapons that use light to commit crimes with.

Poison IvyBatman #181 (June 1966)Pamela Lillian Isley, a former student of advanced botanical biochemistry, employs plants of all varieties and their derivatives in her crimes. She has the ability to control/manipulate all plant life and is immune to all poisons and toxins. She is often described as fanatical about defending plants from other humans, even being willing to murder for her beliefs. She also has a severe love/hate relationship with Batman. In some instances she claims to love him, in other encounters she functions as an ally, and at other times she is more than willing to kill him.

Mirror ManDetective Comics #213 (November 1954)Floyd Ventris is a criminal scientist who uses mirrors in his crimes, in a fashion similar to Mirror Master. In both his meetings with Batman, Ventris tries to expose Batman's secret identity. Years later, Mirror Man returns briefly in the pages of H.E.R.O. #7–9.

SpellbinderDetective Comics #358 (December 1966)Delbert Billings (a.k.a. Keith Sherwood), is a painter who uses optical illusions and hypnotic weapons to commit crimes. Spellbinder is on the run from the law with his new girlfriend Fay Moffit when he is confronted by the demon-lord Neron, who makes an offer of immense power in exchange for his soul. Spellbinder declines, but Fay shoots Spellbinder in the head and accepts the offer for herself.Justice League International vol. 2. #65 (June 1994)A genuine mystic takes the name and appears as a member of the Government sanctioned "League-Busters".Detective Comics #691 (November 1995)During the Underworld Unleashed crossover, Delbert Billings turns down Neron's offer, and is shot by his girlfriend Fay Moffit, who then takes up the name Lady Spellbinder. (Detective Comics #691-692)

Mr. Reese? The Riddler....are you fucking kidding me? Some of you guys are reaching a bit. The Riddler's name is Edward Nigma, sometimes Edward Naston

In fact...if you go to www.thegothamtimes.com (a viral site for the movie)

At the top left, where it says Archived...click on Issue 2. On Page 2, in "Letters to the Editor" there is a letter entitled "Dent cannot be believed." Written by none other than Edward Nashton.

I think the Riddler has a very big chance in being in the next one. I think The Black Mask would make a good minor villain as well.

actually catwoman would be interesting but batman returns did a decent job of balancing the kyle/wayne vs. cat/bat relationships. while this is obviously a restart, it'll take an amazing actress to pull off the physicality that catwoman will need with the psyche of selina.

I thought The Riddler's real name was Edward Nigma. Enigma = mystery.
I think Two-Face will be one of the villains in Batman 3.
Whoever it is though, I hope it's not The Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Catwoman or something dumb.

But like you said, Dent DID die a hero (to the public), the thing is--if he is still alive--he is both the hero and the villain simultaneously, which in my opinion doesn't screw anything up at all. In fact, I think it embodies the hero/villain line even more because he's both.

Yes, from what I've heard, the actor that plays Two-Face is already slated to be in the next film. The ending of TDK almost outright says, "Hey, we're faking his death so that Gotham can continue to have their hero!"
