Whites: New Comedy on BBC2

Ooo, I'd totally forgotten that scene. Yes it was funny. I can always remember a line delivered by his wife, after she and Chef had had a falling out of some sorts, she said;
"I hate you with a passion you can only dream of" Brilliant.
Used it once or twice myself over the years. hehe.

I'll tune into Whites again next week, but I hope it picks up a bit.

Don't remember that one. I do remember Henry's character being accused of lacking polite social skills, or something like that, and replying "It's what I do, I'm a chef. If I wasn't a chef I'd be a serial killer".

Chef had two good series, then they made a third that focussed on the breakup of the realtionship between the chef and his wife, and it was terrible.

I want to like this programme as I usually enjoy the stuff that the actors have been in before (Peep Show, most stuff with Alan Davies, The Great Outdoors etc).

However, I'm sorry to say that I think it is rather poor. I gave it a second chance last night and I think the only line that raised a small laugh from me was when Caroline reeled off the list of fonts. Also, the plotline seemed a bit too similar to last week's episode, with new things being added to the menu at the last minute to impress an important guest.

Also, I know Roland wanted to get his own back on Shay for sabotaging his restaurant all those years ago, but would he really take the risk of allowing someone to be violently ill in his restaurant in front of other guests?? Perhaps I'm reading far too much into this :)

I didn't 'get' it at first but stuck with it because of the cast and then by episode 3 it just clicked and I started to enjoy it. I had been recording it on series link and forgot about it until OH, who hadn't seen any, put it on this afternoon. We've just watched the whole lot back to back and I really enjoyed it all 2nd time around whilst OH actually laughed out loud a few times. Only one more to go, does anyone know if it's been recommisioned?

Considering how difficult first sit com episodes are supposed to be, I liked it. I really cared about the poor sous chef, I felt all his stress, and I thought Kiki and the owner (Maggie Steed?) were both great. Didn't get much sense of who Alan Davies and Katherine Parkinson's characters were yet, but I think there's plenty of room to develop them.

It was pretty dire to be honest. Superhans should stick to just being Superhans not trying to write comedy. There are other members of the Peep Show cast who are lot better than doing that than him it seems.
