Whites: New Comedy on BBC2

I thought it was a bit of a combination - the whites that they wear, Marco Pierre White with the hair/beardy thing, and the fact that the restaurant is like a hotel with it's own garden and herbs, a bit like the manoir which is owned by Raymond Blanc?

I also found Scoose irritating, reminded me a lot of some trainees I had to deal with in another life. I enjoyed it and had to smile last night when we went to a quite foodie pub and the only veggie offering on the menu was - risotto!

quite possibly! they wouldn't last very long though.

i would have thought Bib was senior enough to discipline Scuse as he is in charge most of the time while Roland oversees!

Katherine Parkinson must be the most used comedy actress ever this year, I've seen her in a comedy with trigger from only fools, on a comedy about rambling and wasn't she in doc martin too, I might be wrong with that one and of course The IT Crowd

It was good enough to get me to watch episode 2, so it's at least partly mission accomplished. "Potential" is the keyword here, but they'll have to make Scoose far more likeable if he's going to get that much screentime, though.

(And I was convinced a last scene twist was going to show that Alan Davies & Katherine Parkinson were actually married, but it wasn't to be!)

I think the point is that Bib is so weak that Scuse feels he can indimidate him. Fair enough, though really Scuse started rather sooner than was credible.

After sitting through four episodes I finally took this off series link. I enjoyed the first episode but everything since has been dire. For me this sort of show neeRAB some basis in reality for it to work, just one of the characters being half-believable would be useful. This rubbish makes CHEF! look like a classic sitcom by comparison. And the presence of Maggie Steed reminRAB me my time would be better spent watching repeats of Pie In The Sky on satellite.

Scuse is the classic stalking horse employee.

winding up his superior to get him to break down and then step into his shoes.

Alan Davies modus operandi is to use Obviuos humour and then hammer it home again againagain. ( just watch QI. attention seeking unfunny and ...Ok we get it ..)

This is just a projection of obvious humour.

On the Buses slapstick.

It's trying to be a comedy drama with subtle cringworthy moments but it just isn't giving the situations the impact that they deserve.

I'm not say it should be in the emmbarrassment realms of Partridge but the understatement makes you think....meh!

There really isn't any underlying plot throughout the series to keep you interested. I should have left it after 1 1/2 or 2 episodes but will now probably watch the final 2 to see what happens.

LOL - I can't stand that woman's voice in The IT Crowd. Nails on a blackboard.

First episode of "Whites" was very disappointing. Truth be told it was inferior to Lenny Henry's "Chef" from a few years back!

I think Darren Boyd is good, quite underrated as a comedic actor I think. When he started off in Kiss Me Kate with Caroline Quentin, I thought it would be he, rather than Amanda Holden who would hit the big time. I hope following this series he gets some decent parts in other sitcoms, tv and films.
