Where is Spicoli?

This is part of non-regulated business. It's not about the destructive nature of big business. It's about holding big business responsible for mistakes they make rather than bailing them out (same as should have been done with GM). That's part of having less regulation in the oil drilling business. Companies are trusted to work in good faith for the safety of the public region in which they work on leased land. This company did not. As a result we hold them responsible. So should the gulf victims.

No one but BP is holding them as sacrificial lambs.

That's how law works. The guilty are held responsible for their crimes and restitution is paid to those affected.
The innocent are suffering at the hands of BP....not the government...not nature. Therefore they should seek restitution from BP.

If I get hit by a car I don't expect the government to pay me. I expect the person who hit me with the car to pay me.

This whole thread is you asking why environmentalists aren't sacrificing their time/money to offer help to those affected by BP.

Only in Baker's mind:
I care about the environment so I'm going to let BP get bad publicity from this to thwart future problems like this from happening ever again.

=

They don't care about the environment because they won't go clean up a mess created by someone else.
AKA
You don't care about the environment because you won't clean up after others that don't care about the environment.

I can't wait for some more outstanding trolling and use of logic.

Not terribly surprised that Admiral rushed in to defend Baker and that yet again she has no opinion of her own.

Its quite obvious the only thing Sgt. Baker believes in is trolling on the internet

I stop and pick up trash on the side of the road I live on even though it was put there by others and is not my responsibility.

Do you realize how fucking stupid your argument I'm responding to here is? Really? It's an I didn't do it why should I fucking help fix it. Are you really that selfish?

Why would you say this doesn't solve the problem? The problem is an oil spill. If the company is paying for clean-up currently...then the complaint that others aren't doing anything is retarded. Because their efforts would be misguided. It would be to alleviate the burden of BP so they spend less cleaning up and think the problem is that % less serious.

They are solving the problem by holding the company responsible for the clean-up....which they are handling.
The problem is being handled by BP.

In plain words...the crisis is being handled by BP. Why would they assist the company that caused the damage and reduce the amount BP needs to spend?

Since the clean-up is already being handled....why would they raise more funds...when there are already funds being provided from BP and BP is responsible for funds they don't pony up immediately?

I know that's what it's about for you. I've said it in this thread. I know your position. BP vs. the government. what of regulation forcing rigs farther out to less stable wells that are more difficult to cap? I suppose placing blame on the responsible party matters less to them than actually fixing the problem.

what of the decision to deny assistance from foreign ships?

if it only had a brain...
