Whats your fave "Carry On" movie?

I'd say my favourites are Henry, Khyber and Abroad. As a general rule, the period/'fancy dress' ones appeal to me more than the contemporary ones.

Least would be Jack and Cruising, I think because they have less of the regulars and I just find them rather turgid. I would say England but it's been so many years since I saw it I don't feel I could legitimately say so. Unlike many, whilst I don't particularly 'like' Emmanuelle IMO it has its moments, and I don't think it's a 'bad' film per se as is so often made out.

I've always liked Cowboy even though I'm not keen on westerns. Cabby is a fun gentle film, as is Sergeant (the first carry on).

I think my favourite is probably Follow That Camel, even though there's a completely different dynamic to the usual carry ons because of Phil Silvers.

Of the more traditional Carry Ons, Khyber is always fun and I like Again Doctor as well. It includes probably my favourite dialogue exchange in a carry-on. It's bewtween Jim Dale (visiting doctor) and Sid James (who runs a mission in the tropics)

Sid: I'd like to introduce you to my wives. This is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, this is Thursday and finally...
Jim: Let me guess, Friday.
Sid: That's right.
Jim: Well they must keep you busy
Sid: Oh, I don't know. There's not much happening at the weekenRAB:D

Was that in Don't Lose Your Head? I remember liking that although it's very similar to Henry, and yeah it is several years since I last saw it so who knows if I'd still think so.

Out of the contemporary ones I do like Matron and Loving. The thing they have in common is Hattie Jacques being pretty much at the forefront, so perhaps I like her comic skills in particular more than I'd really thought about.

'Carry On London' was about a limo firm and apparently had a really good script by Paul Minett and Brian Leveson, but struggled for financing and has now been shelved. Originally, it was to feature Shaun Williamson, Daniella Westbrook and Vinnie Jones (shudder!!!) and, on its last attempt to raise financing, then featured a cast of Brian Conley, Frank Skinner, James Dreyfus and Meera Syal (slightly better!) but the funding never fully came through, despite set building being started.

The company behind is has gone into liquidation. The death of Peter Rogers has probably ended the thought of any future projects.

Perhaps the Carry Ons should be released in Blu-Ray HD format? They're a big part of British movie culture. If not Blu-ray how about some enhanced DVD versions with better picture quality? Old films often get digital restoration. :)

That is one of the better later films but for me its already gone too far toward the outright smutty which spoils

I don't like many of the costume ones.
Jack is ok .

My fave is Carry On Cabby - originally not even a Carry on film.

The B&W films are all better than the colour ones but Screaming, Abroad and I have a soft spot for the biggest Carry on flop At Your Convenience

Carry on Henry - it's just the perfect Carry On movie and until very recently hadn't suffered television overplay like some of the others.

I think the funniest ones were always the ones set in the past, and like Hammer movies they always did a good job of conveying the setting on tiny bidgets (I think they used to buy the costumes and sets from bigger budget productions that had recently been shot at Pinewood).

Up The Khyber - that'll teach them to ban turbans on the buses! and Fakir. off!
Screaming - Foul. Feet. Smell. Something Horrible

Spying- first one I saw at the cinema - The Street of a Thousand Aaaaagh........

Carry on England was utterly dreadful

Carry on Cleo for me. Just love it, and Sid looked great in all that Roman armour.

As for Carry on England, yep, pap.....except one little bit.

Kenneth Connors "Speach" in the mess hall, where he out Hitlered Hitler. "Until the whole of Europe....is OURS!!!".....lol.

My favourite is easily Carry on Constable. I think it is a warm and funny outing. The performances of Kenneth Williams, Kenneth Connor, Hattie Jacques and the debutante Sid James are fantastic in my opinion.
