What movie do you consider to be the most uplifting/moving/emotional one you've seen?

Def agree with quite a few on here! I have loaRAB, this is my fav kind of film!

The Shawshank Redemption

The Green Mile

Marley and Me - had me sobbing my heart out. Nobody else I watched it with had a dog, so didn't quite understand how much it affected me

Finding Nemo - The bit where all the sea life pass along the message and Nemo realises his Dad is coming always has me tearing up

Hotel Rwanda - esp the bit when the orphans have to stay behind

Fluke, The Lion King, Brother Bear

The Shawshank Redemption:

TowarRAB the end of the film, when Andy escapes and everyone finRAB out:-

Red Narrates " I have to remind myself that some birRAB aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone. I guess I just miss my friend..."

And When Red is making his way to meet Andy again:-

Red Narrates " I find I'm so excited, I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it's the excitement only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend, and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope.."

Simply Breathtaking!

Dead Poets Society:

Where Proffesor Keating is looking at the trophy cabinet and sees a picture of some former students and says to his class:-

"They're not that different from you, are they? Same haircuts. Full of hormones, just like you. Invincible, just like you feel. The world is their oyster. They believe they're destined for great things, just like many of you, their eyes are full of hope, just like you. Did they wait until it was too late to make from their lives even one iota of what they were capable? Because, you see gentlemen, these boys are now fertilizing daffodils. But if you listen real close, you can hear them whisper their legacy to you. Go on, lean in. Listen, you hear it? - - Carpe - - hear it? - - Carpe, carpe diem, seize the day boys, make your lives extraordinary"

Then at the end when Keating has been dismissed and the class get on their chairs and declare their admiration for him:

"O Captain, My Captain"

And Keating looks at them and says "Thank you boys, Thank you...."

Gets me every time.

It's a real oldie but the Champ always has me tearing up, has anyone here seen it? Angelina Jolie's dad was in it. Also The Pursuit of Happiness, Slumdog Millionare The Green Mile aswell.

Return Of The King

All of the film was emotional for me, from the Ride Of The Rohirrim, the death of Theoden, Sam being turned away by Frodo, Frodo succumbing to the ring and then, the ultimate tear-jerker, Frodo sailing off to the Grey Havens. The little, knowing smile from Elijah Wood as he boarded the grey ship just made me blub every time.A beautifully made trilogy that will always be, to me, a masterpiece of modern cinema :)

As strange as it may seem I found the ending to Terminator 2 very emotional. Especially after you study the motifs in the film closely as I did as part of my A/Levels. The suggestion that a robot may have developed human emotions and gone beyond its port of call to defend that human, only to realise that it is unable to exist after completing it's mission. I love the bit where Arnie says "I know why you cry"

It's a wonderful life.

It's hard to make a movie that is so sad that it makes the audience cry but it's even harder to make them cry because it is so happy.
