It's definately getting more interesting, I've only caught about two-three episodes right now but the episodes i've seen do have plot.

It's almost exactly like Evangelion, except instead of Religious references, it has pop culture references.

I agree with the first part, as my enthusiasm for the series has increased since the introduction of Anemone after waning for several episodes. This series however, is nothing like NGE.

The long hair guy from the prison is VERY important later on in the show. However, at the moment you don't need to know who he is because he won't be included in the story till much later (at least another 10 eps i think) so just pretend you didn't see him :P I also find it a little weird how they introduced him so early on. Maybe the E7 writers didn't expect to get a 2nd season... Thank God they did

I think they introduced him early to show his investigation of what he is to do (Ep 7 with the intel guy) and as I read in Newtype USA
his connection to Holland. Why? because they have shown them as both reading the same echi magazine!

Yeah, I'll keep watching the show on AS.

I really can't get into either it moves too slow and there is rarely in mechs I don't know maybe it'll get better

I was going to watching this show, but seeing how you people rate it, maybe it can be put on "hold"...

I downloaded the entire first season last fall fansubbed and watched it at one time, which is probably better than having to wait a week between eps, especially for the first half of the series which is pretty slow. The first 10-12 eps are about like the first 30 min. of a movie, where they set up the characters, situations, etc. After that they get into the meat of the storyline, and then things get really good.
And don't be too sure that you've seen who the characters really are, in fact none of them has been fleshed out yet. There is a lot more to the crew of the Gekko State than the stoner-dudes persona that has been displayed so far.
I think this is one series which will go over much better when they strip it on the Mon-Thur lineup after the initial showing is finished.

Its not really a mech show, it has some pretty cool battles but the enjoyment comes from the character interactions here. Also don't forget that its 50 episodes long, so don't expact much this early on, just trust all of those who have seen it and assure you that it is an awsome show.

does the story skip a year or something i was watching an amv for eureka 7 and it had a kid that looked like renton in a white mecha and had new cloths and looked older is that renton or a new person?

it's Nirvash's final form. Renton doesn't unleash it till the last episode.

On a positive note, the themes for the opening and closing sounded (to me) richer, more full-bodied, more textured, and more muscular. I just could not enojoy the themes used during the first thirteen episodes. I'm glad for the change.

Yeah, I just watched the episode on Tivo, and the opening and closing were much better than the old ones. Although I liked the old ones, these were considerably better.

Thanks for that; it gave me some good insight into these two characters.

Having seen Ep 8 I feel that the series may be beginning to pick up, at least this episode had my full attention.

I missed it last night, could some kind soul fill me in on what happen with detail?

Pretty good show so far. Only problemme I have, however, is they way they pronounce Eureka's name. IT'S "YOO-REE-KA", NOT "ELRECKA"! (At least in one ep, they DO get it right.)

Actually, in the original Greek, it really WAS "e-uu-re-ka," just as it is more or less spoken in the dub. Just because they don't use the common man's pronunciation doesn't mean they're incorrect.

Still, the Englisch pronunciation is smooth and natural. It flows right off the tongue. The Japanese pronunciation is stilted and weird. I'd sure like to meet and then hit the asshat who insisted on having it pronounced "Elrecka".

In ep. 7 I didn't get what was wrong with Holland.
He just came out punching Renten. And then Moon Doggy didn't do much of anything about it either. I just don't get it. All Renten and Moon Doggy wanted to do is ride the waves.
And it's true that their isn't as much mecha in the series as their should be, but I still want to go on watching it because it is good.

Then the background history of the Gekko State and crew is quite confusing aswell.

I don't have any complaints at all about Eureka 7, and I've been watching it on Adult Swim. When I saw that Eureka 7 was comming to Adult Swim I had no expectations for the reason that anything could happen. Therefore I waited for it to go on air and I just watched it. Because I wasn't expecting it to be a mech show or anything, I was able to enjoy and become hooked on the series reguardless of what people made it out to be. Now I love the show and I look forward to it every Saturday with no complaints. Reason being I am faithful to the shows I start so I can look foward to the next suprise.

Thank you, blackness. I was deliberating this very topic myself; in my case wether to pick up the DVD releases or just continue to record it every Saturday.

I have to admit, with reare exception, that I only picked up the Mecha series that I do have for fanservice! However, I was watching Eureka 7 (what's with the pronunciation of Eureka, anyway?) in the hopes of seeing something akin to Full Metal Panic! which I enjoy immensly.

Although I will keep watching for the mysteries to resolve, if it's this slow, I can't see picking up such a long series on DVD. I have problems believing in some of the characters, but I am old, and I suspect that the show is geared toward a much younger audience.

It does pick up and become more serious, but it kind of switches on and off. The plot does thicken, but often, some incredibly random stuff happens in the midst of something serious, which is kind of...random...and, weird. Except, this kind of strangeness actually works in this series, and actually enhances the plotline in a way (and prevents it from being too angsty). Holland is my favorite character in the series, and I couldn't understand his completely random mood swings and violent temper at first, but eventually, the series subtly reveals why he acts in such a manner.

Some of my friends think this series is really cliche, but I think that in a sense, this is one of the more original animes I've seen. Its originality lies not in its premise, but in the execution.

the show is doing horrible on Adult swim... and i mean REALLY horrible.

i honestly think it's one of the best mecha series i've seen, and i hate this genre. sure it starts off kinda slow at the beginning, but once it gets to the first Acperience, the show nothing but great beyond that point. the only thing i didn't like is
i felt that it wrapped up too nicely. you never felt like Gekko State ever made any real sacrifice in the end, it just seemed like another mission. i also HATED the direction they took Anemone's character.

I've been trying to get into the show but I'm having a hard time doing so. We're 7 episodes in (haven't watched ep. 7 yet), and so far I have no idea where it's going. Save for maybe episode one each episode has virtually been the same and follows a basic formula. By this point I would think I would like to know where everyone is going. Usually characters have some sort of destination or overall goal. The Gekkostate crew, well, they just sort of cruise around until they get a chance to ride the waves. Also, given the fact that this is supposed to be a mecha show there's very little mecha involved (maybe that's why it's popular). Anyway I know the military has something up their sleeves to obtain the Nirvash, but the moments that appear to be what move the overall story along seem so separated from everything else that it's difficult for me to get an idea of what will happen. Then again, maybe there's something I completely missed.

LOL Gaogaigar has like 20 fillers in a row... and you have trouble getting into this?

EUREKA 7 may be one of the best but i can't seem to realize what makes me attract to it so much or maybe it's the animation because i must admit i've never seen better art than this. its only flaw speaks itself as it is too confusing and you won't know the whole plot till you get to a certain episode which they will reveal everything. i didn't mind that it had the same aspect with NGE which by the way i totally hate and overall this anime is just great.
