Weekly Music Trading Post

WTF is wrong with ABBA? Not the coolest band by far but for pure Pop music they are probably the ultimate Pop band. Wrote and played everything themselves and I defy anyone not to know at least 4/5 songs by them.

Dieselboy sent me the Original Soundtrack for Noir

I've never bothered to listen to an anime soundtrack before but after listening to the Noir soundtrack that will definitely change. The easiest way to describe it is just beautiful peaceful music. You can almost imagine yourself lying in the middle of a sunny field without a care in the world. I'm kind of surprised he didn't send this to somebody last week for the happy theme because it definitely has a happy vibe to it.

The music is touches on a bit of everything from electronica to classical never missing a beat and is perfectly enhanced by the singers' voices. There's just something about listening to vocals in languages you don't understand that makes the whole listening experience seem more intimate to me. Even though you don't understand the worRAB you can understand the story being told and that never fails to amaze me.

I really wasn't aware that we had to write reviews... I'm not all that great at writing album reviews so you might want to take my name off the list.

I'm not sure about a theme for the next one. Maybe I might get us all doing a favourite album artwork one again if no-one would have any objections to that? I thought it was a pretty cool theme when we did it last anyway.

And, yeah, I'll probably get my review done over the weekend.

I'm glad you liked it! It is easily my favourite Incubus album, and I too absolutely love the bass. Bassist Dirk Lance only appears on their first 5 albums (I think?) which is why I don't really like their newer stuff as much. Will be interesting though to see what their next album is like, apparently they have one pending...

Anyway, I'm happy you enjoyed it. I think Incubus are a sometimes under-appreciated band or just fobbed off as too mainstream.

I've listened to the one you sent me and there should be a review up soon! :)
