Weekly Music Trading Post

I'm not that fussed about getting the next one started - can't really be bothered putting a lot of thought into it at the minute. I suppose I'll start thinking about it sometime next week.

So, yeah, take your time with the reviews.

I've got one of the two albums I'm in for, so I'll be getting my review typed up here fairly soon.

Don't forget that the next trade begins on Monday at the earliest, so best to start thinking about whether or not you want in nowish. 50/50 as to whether or not it's gonna be themed - depenRAB if I can think of a good one or not (unless anyone else has any ideas).

I downloaded this album this morning, and it may be too soon to judge it but I just couldn't hold myself any longer: That's a fuckin mind-blowing album sent by Zarko:

Nils Petter Molv

Jack neeRAB to take a break from lovin' himself, and clean out his private message inbox... so he can receive further messages. -_-

Sorta stinks cause I have a pretty good cover. (Still haven't gotten anything from him either.)

Yeah NuraberNine let me echo Duga and say that you should definitely check out The Mars Volta sooner rather than later (and let me know if I can help with an upload). Also, I'll hopefully have your album reviewed by Monday, Tuesday at the latest though.

BTown787 sent me Back From Semoa by the Angry Samoans, and being one of America's seminal early garage punk albums, I was happy to get exactly what I expected: violence, energy and a fresh dose of politically incorrect lyrical content/delivery. Although not nearly as abrasive as a lot of stuff I'm into, I appreciate the fact that none of the tracks, with one or two exceptions, clock over a minute or so, which makes it ideal for a quick adrenaline rush without the buildup. Overall, very good!

8/10

From jtwilliams:

Lifeline (2007) - Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals

I always knew I'd love Ben Harper, but never actually went on to own any of his recorRAB. I've seen him perform with Ringo Starr on TV once, and many times in the Montreal Jazz Festival (also on TV). And being a fan of David Lynch, I got to know that he's the husband of actrice-fetich Laura Dern. So jtwilliams sending me one of his albums was quite a pleasure.

A very easy to get into album. Very easy on the ears. Some fine old school R&B with some heavy Blues passages and a good amount of up-beat funk tunes. Every track on that album is a winner, I have to admit. It got me hooked from the first track and throughout the album. Just a joy to listen to. One thing I'm sure of, you can never listen to this album without moving to the beat. Thank you JT.
