Wealthiest cartoon characters?

Apparently announced with little fanfare (or I missed it earlier), I ran across this year's Forbes magazine list of the wealthiest fictional characters:

http://www.forbes.com/2010/04/13/fictional-15-richest-characters-opinions-fictional_land.html

As noted from previous years' lists, Forbes' choices seem to leave something to be desired.

Thus I'll ask again: who's your list of wealthiest characters, or choice for *the* wealthiest?

Re: #1 choice: they seemed to go with whatever was trendy in naming one of those Twilight vampires. My #1 choice would be Scrooge McDuck. To borrow a catchphrase from the Hulk, "Scrooge richest one there is." :-p

#2 would be the Rich family (to be anal---Richie Rich's parents are the ones with the fortune; Richie himself gets a $100,000-a-week allowance, which without his parents' resources just leaves him a "mere" millionaire), who're probably almost as rich as Scrooge.

After that, not sure who else, but probably someone else who is, like Scrooge and Richie, "beyond billionaire" levels of wealth; perhaps RJ Brande from the Legion of Super-Heroes (if he's the galaxy's richest person)?

After "beyond billionaire", *then* we could start naming "mere" billionaires, like Bruce Wayne, Tony Stark, and (Archie comics') Hiram Lodge...

I'd agree with Scrooge McDuck and he would probably take my number 1 pick, he had so many gold coins he could go swimming in them for crying out loud, I'd say that's pretty darn rich. Then we have characters like Richy Rich who was definately abundantly wealthy, but I'd say that McDuck most definitely takes the cake in my book, anyone that can swim in their wealth is certainly at the top of the mountain.

Mr. Burns is a billionare and had enough money to buy every media outlet in Springfield. He also owned a Trillion dollar bill.

Scrooge McDuck, Flintheart Glomgold, David Xanatos (these lists always forget him, and I am sure he's richer than most of them), Tony Stark, Mr. Burns, Bruce Wayne, and Lex Luthor all immediately come to mind.

Oh, I think the Ritch family is more obscenely wealthy than McDuck by far. They're certainly more ostentatious about it, with their gold limos and their gold tanning. They'll be first against the wall when the revolution comes.

Seriously, try to tell me this is a wise use of capital:

McDuck does have the money bin, yeah, but the coins and dollars in it are not necessarily that large in terms of denominations. Considering the physical space all that money would take up it might be there's a billion bucks or less in it, that's not even Bill Gates level. I know he has more money, but the money bin is misleading.

Both the Riches and McDuck, for being so rich, are very silly with their money in keeping it around as cash. That's basically stuffing a mattress, a terrible investment strategy because your money doesn't earn money and gets devalued with inflation.

In one comic, Scrooge actually becomes the sole owner of an entire moon made out of solid gold. Surely, having such an immense source of gold at his disposal puts him ahead of the competiton?

There's a couple that I thought of:

1. Carter Pewterschmidt - Not sure how much he was originally worth, but now I guess it would be 1/2 of however much Ted Turner is worth.

2. The Utrom Shredder from the 2003 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon - Not sure exactly how much he was worth either. But he was probably a billionaire. Cause he donated something like 147 million dollars to the city of New York after being invaded by aliens in the third season.

Bolded for emphasis.
"Detective, I am the owner of a multinational company that's bigger then most countries you'd care to name." - David Xanatos
Yeah, I think X is smidge above the vampire dad from freaking Twilight.

Was going to cite this as well---pretty sure a flipping *moon* made of gold tops anything even the Rich family (or the others on this list) can throw at Scrooge. :-p

And while it was noted, the Money Bin only holds a *portion* of Scrooge's vast wealth---Forbes (like others) tend to ignore his colossial financial empire, with various investments in almost *everything*, factories, etc. (and the aforementioned moon). Most of the comics described his true worth with made-up numerical figures ("fantasticatillion", "impossibidillion", etc.) and the money bin as the (made-up) size of "three cubic acres of cash," but pretty safe to assume Scrooge would make any of the "mere" billionaires on this list look like paupers...

The Riches are flashier (and more free-spending) with their cash than Scrooge, true.... one thing that makes them different from McDuck.

Maybe I'm being too anal about this, but I don't think this list should be a popularity contest. Save that bias for People's Most Beautiful.

And I say this every year, but no one can be richer than Richie Rich because being rich is his entire gag. EVERY SINGLE THING he does and says is about how rich he is. Fine, Scrooge can own a money bin and a gold moon, but there are twenty times as many objects of obscene excess displayed on Richie's covers alone.

Owning a gold moon is mostly theoretical wealth, though. It wouldn't be cost effective to mine it, would it? Or at least the enormous expense of mining in space would really cut into the net value of the profits from it. So it's not practical wealth that should count toward Scrooge's haul.

I have to give #1 to Scrooge. Not because of the money bin, but because of HOW he makes money. Scrooge has been shown to be able to make money out of any venture he dabbles in.

Beyond that, it's Scrooge's business ethics that puts him above and beyond, even Xanatos. Yes, Scrooge is cheap and would do anything to save money, but he's also shown as being very ethical and has never cheated, doublecrossed, or manipulated to make his fortune. His fortune was made honestly.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't some magazine compile a list of the wealthiest cartoon characters with Scrooge McDuck taking first place?
