Unpopular Opinions: Not everyone thinks "Citizen Kane" is the best movie ever!

Armageddon - One of my favorite movies EVER. All the critics who hate it just take it WAAAAAAY too seriously. You're supposed to totally suspend your disbelief and go along for the ride. And I know what Billy Bob Thorton thinks of it, but frankly his part was terrific. There are about a million great lines and moments—the only part I usually skip over on the DVD is where they're going through the astronaut tests/training.

which one you disagree with the most ?

Maybe that Jim Carrey isnt funny ? people wanted to kill me at one point for saying that. I think he was best in the Truman show (LOVED THAT MOVIE) and he should have got nominated for something. :)

Yeah another UO : I HATE DUMB AND DUMBER :P and Big Fish Got snubbed at Oscars for Every Category.

UO# 1 I hate ET, The Sound of Music, Casablanca and Gone With The Wind. I just can't understand what the fuss is about!
UO# 2 Signs scared the crap out of me, I don't care who else thought it was tame
UO# 3 I thought the Matrix movies were over rated
UO# 4 Alexander was a brilliant movie (even though I will concede that the books were better)
UO# 5 Kevin Spacey is not the best actor in the world and he (and everyone involved) destroyed Pay It Forward
UO# 6 I though Titanic was a good movie, and Leonardo is a great actor!
UO# 7 I think Return of the King deserved the oscars it won. Of course, anyone who watches the oscars knows that it's a rigged popularity contest anyway, but still :D
UO# 8 I think the entire chain that includes Not Another Teen Movie, Scary Movie, Disaster Movie, Meet The Spartans, etc suck big time! They're not funny, at all!
UO# 9 300 was a great movie

Tom Cruise & Brad Pitt are not the best actors in the world... even though they certainly r one of the 20 most popular ones...
Julia Roberts is not among most beautiful actresses in the world...
Woman looks ...average.
Well, I really think Jennifer Lopez should stick to singing... for gods sake, why do you all need to be multitalents?
And what's the matter with whoever picked Robert Pattinson for main role in Twilight ... ? Must be insane.

I like her refuge work, don't get me wrong, but there are many actors that do similar stuff and not everyone are aware of, sometimes I feel like she honestly care about them, but a big part just wants to show up, I'm not saying it's true, just what I think. Well, even if it is, she's still helping kids anyway, so great for them :)

Zodiac was flawless! One of my favorites from last year... Robert Downey Jr. was also screwed out of a nomination IMO as well.

Here is the films imdb page. :)

Well I'm glad I made you laugh...lol ;)

There are some movies that are given credit where credit is NOT due, the only reason they get recognition is because of the stars in them.

For example, "Runaway Bride" with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere sucked.

I can't stand past actors who had their day redoing movies to try to break in again. For example, Sly Stallone and Rambo, Sharon Stone and Basic Instinct 2, Harrison Ford and Indiana Jones 4...it's like...ruining a perfectly good set of movies with another one that is tasteless.

Haha, definitely, like the 6000 remakes currently in production!

Hm, another UO: I loved The Mist and the ending. I own the movie on DVD.

Oh thank god, I thought I was the only one who was thinking that. And I really didn't think he had it in him.

There are a lot of horror movies that should not be given the credit of even being called a movie. But that goes for every genre. And if I were to list them all. I would use the maximum space allowed in a post!

I agree about Tom Cruise not being a great actor and being overrated.

UO #14: Reality shows are not that cool

A million times agree with this post. I was so frustrated with her situation that I would find myself holding my breath during her scenes out in the desert....That's great acting.

I hope everyone is keeping in mind that this is the Unpopular Opinion thread...some of these are opinions that almost everyone agrees with (especially at the time of something happening..awards, etc.)

1. Catherine Zeta-Jones winning Best Supporting Actress for Chicago over Julianne Moore for The Hours only happened because Julianne was also nominated for Best Actress in Far From Heaven the same year.

2.Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King making a clean sweep was ridiculous. It's like giving the Pulitzer prize to a three-volume novel, only based on the third volume.

3. Both Natalie Portman and Kathy Baker gave better supporting performances than Renée Zellweger in Cold Mountain.

4. Uma Thurman should have been nominated for Best Actress for both parts of Kill Bill.

5. Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel are NOT movie star material.

6. Joel Schumacher's version of The Phantom of the Opera was atrocious. The only good performance in it came from Miranda Richardson, whose French accent was excellent.

7. It is insulting that neither Marilyn Monroe nor Rita Hayworth ever got an Oscar nomination.

8. 2001: A Space Odyssey and Close Encounters of the Third Kind both bored me to no end...

9....but I really liked Pearl Harbor.

10. Tanya Roberts was NOT one of the worst James Bond girls ever.

THANK YOU!!!!! :thud:

100% agree with you! I'm glad others are seeing the similarites between Made of Honor and MBFW. The kicker though, I bet that in Made of Honor, the woman leaves her fiancé for Patrick Dempsy because that's just what women do  (that's not a spoiler, that's just what I think is going to happen at the end of the film)
