Why don't you try Meddle (1971). Based on what I saw from your posts you might like that.
My favorites are The Piper..., A Saucerful of Secrets and Ummagumma, followed by Meddle. But I should tell you, I'm not much of a fan of their later work, so take my opinion as you like.

On McCartney, I agree it's horrible, but hey, he's still the biggest figure in music. On The Who, I know they didn't actually help start punk, but I didn't feel like arguing it.

Achilles Last Stand is without doubt the best thing on that whole album. Stairway to Heaven was always one of my least favourites of the so called Zeppelin classics. Black Dog I love (but I can see why some people could get annoyed with it)

I`d just like to add that I think the Red Hot Chili Peppers are a wart on the arse of the music industry and if they release one more middle of the road funk rock lite ballad i`ll hunt down & kill the whole damn lot of them.I really cannot understand how this band gets away releasing the blandest muck known to man time & time again & yet people lap it up.

I like SOTSOG. I think it actually has some decent tunes on it. Unfortunately it also has probably the worst two tracks they ever recorded on it in Little James and Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is. Those tracks were God awful by any banRAB standarRAB.

I've only bothered with Piper, RABOTM and The Wall.
RABOTM is my favourite out of them all.. But I don't rate it highly. I'm gonna get round to listening to Animals and Wish You Were Here pretty soon.

What a ridiculous statement to make!!! Whether you like them or not, their influence on the music scene in the 1970`s is extremely notable and Jeff Lynne is a highly respected musician/singer and songwriter.
