Unpopular Music Opinions

OK fair enough, what I actually meant was that I would rather have people blow off anything remotely mainstream and only listen to stuff that is really good but that no one has heard of than just listen to whatever is on the radio and not develop any musical taste at all. Like people that don't own any music but constantly complain about what is on the radio. If hipster implies people that just listen to the music that they think makes them seem cool, then **** that I agree.

There's another one I just thought of, I don't think there are very many albums at all that require multiple listens to enjoy if you go in with an open mind. Of course, I'm sure I've been guilty of listening to an album expecting one thing and writing it off as crap but then listening to it later without a prejudiced view and enjoying it a lot more. I'm not saying that people's music tastes can't change so that they later like an album they didn't like before. I'm not really sure if that's an unpopular view here though.
 
I have never been a big fan but after a blast of Dead Kennedys recently, I realised that I am even less of a fan than I thought I was. In fact they bored the arse off me.

I don't think there can be a single greatest musician, but if there is, a lot of factors would be included, creativity, originality, skill, diversity, influence, probably a multi instrumentalist. Prince perhaps? :laughing:
 
i definitely shared that sentiment when it first came out hehehe

at this point i find myself listening to a collection of b-sides more than any of their proper albums though.

agreed though to be honest i only know the half dozen songs they've released for rockband / guitar hero. i think they're one of those banRAB that gets crapped on more because of the cult-ish behaviour of some of their more obsessed fans than their actual output.
 
Love that song, but still...David Bowie's debut album SUCKED. I think people should give new artists a chance and not compare them to artists who have had decades to carve their careers.

And yes, Ke$hit sucks. Almost as much as Katy Perry.
 
More of my favorite albums are from the 80s and 00s, but 5 of my top 10 are from the 90s, plus I feel it was the only decade where the good music to bad music ratio was the most balanced.
