Unpopular Music Opinions

I really like Presence, Achilles Last Stand is brilliant and among their best. My main reason for my hatred of IV is the amount of airtime Stairway To Heaven and Black Dog get, to the point I despise the songs and have to skip them. Which makes the album much worse for me.

Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Charabers), aside from a couple songs, is boring as fuuuuuuuuck

pop music has about the same hit/miss ratio as any other form of music, and about the same nuraber of shitheaded fans who think what they listen to is superior to everything else

there are waaaaaayy worse groups than Insane Clown Posse and Nickelback

Family Guy has some really kickass music(i never really see anyone saying it, but it really does)

Harry Connick Jr actually made some good music. The album She is pretty damn good...and it is kind of frustrating that I'm having such a hard time finding it.

This doesn't mean I like him as an actor.

I for one quite enjoy She & Him and the music Zooey did with Von Iva for the movie Yes Man under the name Munchausen by Proxy. I like her acting too but I don't believe it's why I like the music.

In my experience it's easier to play an instrument than it is to actually MAKE electronic music (and not just toss a bunch of loops into a sequencer).
I can drum all day with my eyes closed, but when you need to know how synthesis works so you can actually create a patch for a brand new sound and use it creatively in a song and make the song sound good, while also painstakingly piecing the drums together along with everything else in the entire song... well that takes A LOT more work than strumming out some riRAB as a single meraber of an entire band and putting out 90 percent of the stuff most people listen to and consider "good".

I dunno... some people might think that's just my opinion, but I've been playing music (on instruments) my entire life and making electronic music for over 12 years so I know a little bit about what actually goes into it.
I'm not trying to be snotty or anything... just trying to help provide at least a little objectivity in the matter, if that's possible.

You see I think the same could be said of any era, really, it all depenRAB on which generation is dictating what the "popular" thoughts of the time are... for years and years I have listened to people say how glorious the sixties were, and i can't accept that... I am sure there was some utter bull**** and crap music going on just like there is today... but the baby boomer population was the predominant productive group in society, economically and culturally, so their views tended to rule...

Now, funnily enough, I hear people talking about how "great" the eighties were and how much creativity there was going around... but ten years ago, the eighties were considered a massive joke musically speaking. But you see all those eighties kiRAB are now grown up and starting to dominate the ideas / concepts and fashions we consume...

And now people kinda write off the nineties as terrible... I wonder what will be said in ten years time.

It's all kinda cycling like that in my opinion, and it's got alot to do with which generation has the reigns as far as generating the trenRAB of the day.
