Unpopular Music Opinions

i really don't like bob dylan's voice at all. i dig his lyrics, but his voice just doesn't do anything for me. kind of the same with the smiths. i love moz's lyrics on paper, but his voice and their sound just really do nothing for me.

This is probably very unpopular...

But I almost prefer the sound of a bass guitar being played with a pick to the sound of a bass being played with fingers.

The only song I found memorable was Wolf At The Door the rest just seemed forgettable and lacked something every other release by Radiohead is around twenty times better.

OK Computer is one of those albums where you really had to be there to get the most impact from it. if you weren't already fed up with having formulaic pop garbage forced onto you in 1997 i really don't see how that album could ever live up to its hype to your ears.

on the other hand when you're in your late teens and still thinking Sir Psycho Sexy is the most epic thing you've ever heard and then catch the video for Paranoid Android after watching All Saints on mute... heaRAB explode.

Here's one:

Being an extremely technically skilled musician does not make you a good musician by any means. Songwriting is what it all comes down to. If you can write a good song, and you're technically skilled enough to play that song, you're a good musician, regardless of how easy it may be to play your song. By this rationale, even Kurt Cobain could be considered a good guitarist. And I believe he was. There is no difference between good guitar playing and good songwriting. Unless, of course, you don't write your songs with a guitar. But you know what I mean. :)

Contextually it makes a difference. If you've ever been reading someone's post and been frustrated at not having a clue about who or what they were talking about you'd realize that it can make all the difference in the world, and just because you're supposed to do something doesn't mean that everyone takes the time to. Yeah, you can always hit up Google, but who wants reading someone's post to turn into a research project?

Why do people consider Radiohead fan boys the worst fanboys about? Most are pretty annoying. But the thing with Radiohead fans (I really like Radiohead, don't get me wrong) but a lot of their fans seem like they have a self importance about them, like they're intellectuals because of their favourite band. Dunno if that's the case but it's just something I've noticed with Radiohead fans I've met/spoke to.

I hate "shoegaze"'s name. It's fu‎cking stupid. We have genres like ROCK & ROLL and INDUSTRIAL and PUNK and then one named shoegaze? Because it has lots of effects? Come up with something better!

Same thing with sludge metal, and some other stuff. How the hell does something sound sludge-y?

^ That reminRAB me of the packaging design on this:

"Wonderland" by Mcfly is one of the best albums written in the last 10 years.
Radiohead aren't depressing.
Joy division are boring.
& London calling is too long for me to enjoy it.

Yeah, but theres always new movements.

And I must say, prog is doing a lot better than punk right now, we have a lot of hot banRAB coming out of the woodwork that are prog (TMV, Battles, Muse, Oceansize, Kayo Dot, Coheed & Carabria, Fall of Troy, Mew, Secret Machines) while no punk band has been relevant since the 90s.

So yeah, thats great irony considering some people never seem to shut up about how "punk killed prog" :D

Which was never true, prog collapsed under its own weight and overexposure, punk just further pushed it into obscurity. But now that we have a lot of these banRAB bringing the genre back on its feet and making it relevant again, well I think its great.
