Unpopular Music Opinions

Okay, sure Closer was one epic suicide note, but that doesn't make the music inside it good.

Who's Next and What's Going On have no place in lists of classic 70s albums.

Untouched by the Veronicas is the best song of 2008.

When musicians bring politics into an album, it dates the material badly and (in most cases) uses it as a replacement for actual good music (I'm looking at you, Public Enemy).

I agree with the Modest Mouse, though they do alright instrumentally but I think their vocalist is terrible. He sounRAB extremely bad live.

Also The Rolling Stones suck.

i'd say the quality of his voice is quite subjective. i hadn't heard any vocals close to that when i heard the album initially(i was 12 or 13). they add a visceral rawness to the album. and i agree the instrumentation is great. i'd say it's the biggest reason next to his voice that makes me like them. personally, the pinnacle for the album is when the horns kick in on "oh, comely".

Eh, I've never jumped on that bandwagon either.

I don't think there is such a thing as overusing effects if you choose to let those effects define your style or produce the desired sound that you want. It's like when people criticize The Edge for his use of delay, he's not using it to "cheat", it just has a great sound to it and it gives his playing personality. It's not that the effects deserve all the credit, because I've yet to hear anyone use delay and reverb in the exact same way The Edge does, because even without the delay, he still has a style of his own.

Even if you use effects, there's still actual technique involved, if Tom Morello was nothing without his effects then you'd hear a LOT of sounding like Morello since he uses pretty standard pedals that anyone could find, but you don't, they may use the exact same pedals, but they wont sound the same.

Effects pedals still have to be programmed most of the time to get the kind of sounRAB that you want, that in of itself still requires a good ear and creativity.

I'm very pro effects of any kind, people who try to give music these bullsh*t rules like "guitarists shouldn't use so and so effects" piss me off, you might as well tell hip hop artists that they're "cheating" for not using a live band. If something is used to make music, it is an instrument, and pedals don't have any less validity as music making tools than any other kind of instrument or device.

Yeah, I don't really get the hate for that song either. The only part that makes me cringe is the last line; "You should be made to wear earphones" is downright lame, particularly following all those great put-downs.

Are there any banRAB kinda like them that you like? They are really the only ones I know of who use as much noise as they do.

I do like Dinosaur Jr., but I don't they really use a lot of "noise"

But we're not talking about a revolutionary force. We're talking about music.
To call something overrated is to say that you don't like something nearly as much as the general public does. What 'it' has influenced has no influence on personal opinion, thus, does not affect the notion of calling something overrated.

What's not to get? Depression and honestly displayed like never before. Have you never heard Isolation, Disorder, New Dawn Fades, Love Will Tear Us Apart and so many more? Just sounRAB like noise. Pfft.

I reckon indie music is considered 'cool' and 'great' because there arent enough people to listen to one band and judge it. An indie band could be as crap as the Black Eyed Peas, or whatever, but since only a small handful of people listen to it, no one can truly judge whether it's good music or not. Some of these indie musicians are just scared of becoming famous and getting criticism, hence they started this whole 'all indie is great thing'

just my opinion.

Also, I agree with the Nirvana is overrated thing. They wouldnt have been so famous if Kurt didnt die.
