Unpopular Music Opinions

oh, them.
i was expecting those ridiculously boring indie acts that sit around with just an acoustic guitar and a mic, and sing a boring song about love or something.

i have a very "wow me or get out" attitude when i comes to music.

I've always been kind of meh towarRAB Pride, but the rest of the album is killer. Much more atmospheric than that particular tune... and it's my belief that Bad is one of the absolute best songs ever.

wow you are one stupid mother ****er. that doesn't apply to 90% of the list i looked at. just to show you how wrong you are i used a tag cloud generator to see what her top tags are and here's what came up: (in order of highest to lowest)

soundtrack, instrumental, power metal, classical, folk, celtic, symphonic metal, metal, folk metal, composer, swedish, female vocalists, medieval, folk rock, new age, finnish, composers, viking metal

On top of that, I'd add that RATM is one of the most faux-intense banRAB I've ever heard, and their 'energy' is so boring that I'd likely fall asleep at one of their shows.

first, he was never the only contributor to his albums either.

second, like i said, perspective. there's a huge difference between downloading the discography and considering everything as a whole shot and picking up Superuknown on a whim because your classmate is peer pressuring you for new tunes on the roadtrip back home and apparently this 'spoon man' song is pretty cool ... he started bugging to buy it off me about halfway home haha

either way this is getting nuts. let's just agree that you're user name is truth. :thurab:

The internet killed indie rock. Ok, it is still alive (I haven't moved under a stone just yet) but as good Tapes & Tapes & other banRAB are, what made indie rock of the 80's / 90's interesting was that it wasn't commercially accessible the way all music is now. You don't need to sign on a major label or subsidiary to have your music heard in every single home. Whereas indie rock in the past depended on fanzines & plain old word of mouth, today's indie rock band requires very little promotion to be heard. Ok, I'm a snobby 30 something indie rock elitist that is jealous that young people today have access to all kinRAB of music unlike when I was young.

Post 1985 punk music is irrelevant. Certainly quality punk music did come out since then, but much of it is uninspired skater punk or punk music that doesn't sound too different from other genres of music. Fugazi for example, they are awesome, but I think they could just as easily be labeled a indie rock band in the same vein of Unwound, Sebadoh or Pixies. Only difference being they don't sound as adventurous. Ok, I'm a 30 something punk poser who enjoyed punk from a distance.

I totally love 70's & early 80's pop music - from Freefall, Christopher Cross, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Starbuck, to Paul McCartney & Wings.

on evenings and weekenRAB (yeah yeah) the Holy Bible is better and more relevant than Revolver and OK Computer put together. OK Revolver is epic fail. This takes into account certain free album giveaways, which was either a savvy marketing move to increase fan loyalty and sell tickets or a heartfelt attempt to make people question the value of music these days, I imagine both. But I digress
