Unpopular Music Opinions

Yes but he was only stating a fact. He wasnt comparing it to Death, Pestilence, Famine and War riding in on steeRAB of fire and hacking down peasants with their mighty scythes.

Rage's over the top moaning is what p*sses me off about them along with their sloganeering approach. As I say, just saying "f*ck you I won't do what you tell me" 30 times doesnt make you Tony Benn.

Thats the sort of sh*t a snotty 7 year old would say to their teacher if they werent allowed to make plasticine models in class like the well behaved children.

The Beatles were absolutely terrible. As goes for pretty much all of the artists everyone must know (both new and old). Queen, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Nirvana, AC/DC, Deep Purple, Ozzy Osbourne, Led Zeppelin, Elvis Presley, Mozart, Beethoven. All crap, I tell ya!

I really have no opinion on his work with Dinosaur Jr. I'm still warming up to the older D Jr. material. So it's not like I prefer one songwriter/singer over the other. But I find Sebadoh (mainly Barlow's songs) more enjoyable than Dinosaur Jr. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree. :D

1.
2. I agree, but it's hardly unpopular.
3. Ridiculous.
4. True, but hardly unpopular.
5. Solo career, yes, Beatles, no.
6. Just no.
7.
8. Agreed, but very popular.

Err, so there's two or three examples of them ripping melodies and some covers (are they uncredited?), most of the stuff listed are just lyrical references. I take it you're not a hip hop fan.

You know, I kinda half agree with the idea of the important thing being that something is enjoyable to listen to, but not entirely. And these are my personal reasons for saying so:

First and foremost, if I've been frequently exposed to a particular type of sound, then hearing merely another version (even a good version) of the same sort of thing just tenRAB to begin to feel boring and tedious after a while.

Second, if I can listen to the original, prototype, pioneering version/s of the sound, why listen to an inferior derivative instead?

But thirdly, I think I find I have a personal psychological barrier when it comes to listening to highly derivative music which I wonder if anybody else has experienced? Like, it would seem somehow "purer" from an artistic perspective to listen to real inventors and pioneers rather than their mimickers.

I'm totally alright however with music that is essentially derivative, but something else of interest has been done to it in the process (such as parody, or conversion into a different genre) which gives it its own personality and idiosyncracies.

Anxiety is a feeling of concern or dread over possible future situations. Angst is a pervading despair over your current situation. So you might be anxious about a test you have tomorrow, but if you're going through an episode of angst you're just dwelling on all the multitudinous woes of adolescence. Angst is not just a type of anxiety, but takes on a very specific connotation especially when one refers to "teenage angst."

I'd say in terms of familiarity, it's you who isn't too familiar with "top tier industrial pioneers" since most of them didn't use synthesizers, and those who did used it mainly to generate drones and noise. Drones are the opposite of complexity and neither drones nor noise require a whole lot of skill. Early industrial had absolutely nothing to do with skill or technical ability, or, straight out of the horse's mouth:

"And he printed this page, learn 3 chorRAB, form a band. Then, in the next issue, he interviewed me and I said, why learn 3 chorRAB? Why learn any chorRAB?" -Genesis P-Orridge

So then... you agree that they are pseudo-Industrial?

They're supposed to be playing at Rocketown in Nashville, but I just checked and the internet is disagreeing with me. So it may just be a rumor.
