Ultimate Guitarist Poll

I took the liberty to add in the various banRAB and the less popular one's style(s). If there's no band listed it means they have a solo career, even though I know some some of them have also been in banRAB, but they probably have more solo albums. And vice-versa.
I'm not gonna stop this list until everyone on this entire board is happy! So tell me to make additions if you want and I'll add them if I've heard of 'em – or correct my mistakes. You now officially have the right to be pissed at me for forgetting your favourite guitarist(s).

The GREATEST is definately Hendrix.

The BEST is Dimebag.

Just to clear things up, Cobain sucks at guitar, and songwriting, and most things for that matter.
 
Jimmi Hendrix. No question. Feel and inovation and natural raw talent. Dave Gilmore from Pink Floyd in my opinion has the best feel of any guitarist in the galaxie. Jimmi comes very close. It's almost a tie. Kurt Cobain played guitar almost sarcasticly. I'm a huge Nirvana fan, you have no idea, but as a guitarist, he had a natural talent that was diffinatly unique and provided the right feel that he was trying to display, but techniclly I wouldn't but him in the same catagory as Jimmi Hendrix.

Also have to mention Kirk Hammit of Metallica. Check out the solo in the song Ride the Lightning, and you'll see why.

OMG! I almost forgot Slash from GnR. Slash rocks.
 
Yeah, he had no input in Kill 'Em All which is an amazing album. I prefer Mustaine to Kirk. I agree that Het is very talented too.
 
besides, it's the tone that matters. jimi and SRV and Gilmour could take one note, and make it sound better than malmsteens 100 notes. they evoked emotion through a guitar. all these super-fast, effects drenched guys sound like a sega genuses game. technically, they are good, but where is their soul?
Isn't that what guitar is about? Playing what you feel? if it was just a competition on who was the fastest, we would all play football. and dont get me wrong. there are plenty of non-bluesy guitarists (which is obviously my taste) that have soul. Tommi Iomi for instance. He started heavy metal. Rhandy RhoaRAB. Brian May. Pete Townsend. What about these guys?
 
Johnny Thunders really dosen't belong in the same sentence as Reinhardt or Hendrix.

Or virtually everyone else that has been mentioned, for that matter.
 
Slash is more or less Joe Perry with added distortion. And Perry is a painfully generic '70s rock guitarist. So I'm pretty sure Slash is like, objectively bad.
 
No I'm not. Rezz made a comment inferring that Hendrix's style was to complex and I disputed it. I was talking to Crowquill with the Arrogant Jackass part. To Rezz: This is a forum, people will argue with you. Get over it.
 
Rite Can I Just Say That For About A Year I Was A Nirvana Obsessive And Liked All The Music But Never In My Life Will I Say Kurt Cobain Was A Great Or Even Good Guitarist!!!! He Was A Guy Hu Had An Attitude And Hu Could Play A Few ChorRAB On A Guitar And If He Hadnt Have Blown His Mouth Off, No One Wouldve Heard Of Him!
 
i'm not a big clapton fan either. would have liked to see him live in his "cream" days. i've just had a listen to his "best of" album that i have. and in my opinion it's pretty weak (other than the "cream" era songs and a few gems). maybe it comes across better live though (and then i'd have a different opinion).
