Toonzone's Top 50 Animated Show Countdown!

"100% complete blashphemy"? I love how you didn't even address my long list of classic cartoons I like better than Scooby.

Hanna-Barbera had very little time or freedom. They made tons of shows, but most of them were clones of each other because they had such little time or freedom. In the '70s and '80s they really weren't much better than Filmation in that regard; instead of folding, however, they scaled down the number of shows they were making to focus more on quality rather than quantity, allowing them to survive through the '90s before evolving into CN Studios.

Regardless of Scooby Doo's merits, you have to admit it's nowhere near as thought-provoking as Twilight Zone or Star Trek. It'd be much more honest to compare it with other camp classics like Adam West Batman or Speed Racer.

Scooby Doo's character designs are also pretty bad compared to Ed Bennedict's more appealing work on older H-B shows.

Futurama's best is less than The Simpsons' best but its worst is way better than The Simpsons' worst.

Haven't watched that much B:TAS.

Replace that Scooby Doo joke with Cowboy Bebop or Paranoia Agent and you have an argument there.

You know what's kind of odd? Neon Genesis Evangelion didn't make the list at all. You'd have thought it had a chance, seeing as its second only to Bebop in terms of popularity/notoriety of adult-geared anime.

You must have grown up in the 90's then. Everybody I knew that grew up in the 80's and beforehand that watched cartoons love Tom & Jerry.

My nephews were born in the 90's and they LOVE Tom & Jerry and say that it's much better than the cartoons out now, and I agree 100%. It definitely influenced most (if not all) of the slapstick violent cartoons that have come out since.

SMH at some of these toons that are being rated above the classics. Yogi and Flintstones should have been rated MUCH higher as well.

That said, It's good to see that Daria made the list. While I don't like it as much as B&B, it's still a great cartoon that would make my Top 50 as well.

So i guess then the top 3 is:

Avatar
Batman: TAS
The Simpsons

I guess im not 100% on Avatar, but as for the top two spots, yeah... I think we all pretty much knew it from the beginning. :p

If this list is supposed to feature the best cartoons of all time, then whether ot not they have the status of a "classic" shouldn't matter.

And with that in mind, in my personal oppinion, the only pre-90's Hannah-Barbera cartoon that might belong on a list like this is The Flintstones.

^ I very strongly disagree with that. Hanna Barbera created some of my favorite cartoons of all time. Sorry I missed a day guys, I have a lot of homework that I should have done earlier during Thanksgiving Break that I didn't and now it's coming back to haunt me.

#29 Transformers

I never got into the Transformers craze myself, I still haven't even though I admit that the movies were very well done. Still, I understand it's popularity and why it made the list this high.

#28 X-Men Evolution

Believe it or not, I just saw one of my first glimpses of X-Men watching "Origins" a couple months ago and it was awesome. I have yet to see this series but I definitely will sometime soon in the future.

#27 House of Mouse

This is one of the biggest shocks of the list so far, I think. I had no idea that House of Mouse would make it this far up even though I put it relatively high on my personal list. What I loved about it is that it reminded me a lot of classic Disney and every single Disney character was used perfectly. Also, the newer shorts were great and they even showed classics from time to time.

#26 American Dad!

I'm not surprised at all that it made the list since Toon Zone really seems to love Seth MacFarlane cartoons. No denying that he is a great talent. It isn't one of my favorite cartoons by him by any stretch. Still, it has solid humor and pretty good characters.

Actually, I would deny that Seth McFarlane has great talent - I just can't appreciate a show with non-cohesive revolving solely around humor which is rarely even slightly clever.

Glad to see X-Men Evolution up there! It is easily my favorite X-Men show, and is on my Top Ten list for cartoons in general! I especially loved Apocalypse in it - he's one of my favorite villains of all time, and was brilliantly done in Evo.
