Define "New-Age", because Avatar: The Last Airbender was only four years ago and that's almost certainly going to be on this list (certainly feels like its been longer, but still).

TSSM is the best show of all time, Hey Arnold! was ranked way too low, and Avatar definitely deserves the Top Ten at least (I rank it 3rd).
Although, I do agree that Spongebob isn't that deserving, and Family Guy is *bleeeeeeeep*. Futurama doesn't deserve to win, 'cause there are shows objectively better than it, but come on, it's not gonna - almost everyone prefers Simpsons and that's a fact!

I'd say SpongeBob is certainly deserving of top 50, but as for top 10, I can't see it higher than 7, maybe 5, but that's really pushing it.
Wooow, stop right there. Just what shows are objectively better than Futurama? I can undertand perfectly well if you personally dont fint it entertaining, but not how you can say that there are cartoons that are objectively better than it (at least if "better" means "have better writing").

Here's my opinion on Scooby. I actually agree with what most of what KJ Styles said. Scooby hasn't lasted 40 years for no reason. Scooby-Doo Where Are You? was the beginning of a long line of mystery shows from Hanna Barbera. So why weren't they able to back the same element in any of them, and yet every time they made a new Scooby series it did have the same element? One reason is the characters. They contrasted with each other perfectly even though all of their personalities were so different. Another reason is that Hanna Barbera had internalized something when they created Scooby and even they didn't realize it at the time. All of the best ideas were meant to be for Scooby and only Scooby.
As for the animation, for it's time it was incredible. It almost always had a spooky atmosphere that added to the vibe of the entire show. Yes they re-used animation but I don't understand why that matters at all if it was still great. In relation to the animation, the designs of all the villains were excellent, to this day they are my favorite villain designs of any cartoon. Also relating to this is the creativity, a very important part in Scooby's success. Out of all of the episodes that has been created in the franchise, they haven't run out of ideas. And it's impossible to single out any individual episode as being worse than another because it was always consistent. Weather you like it or not, that is something to appreciate. And if you want to talk about humor, well classic cartoon humor is completely different than the humor used in shows now. The "corny" element, per-say is just what the show needs and is great for laughs here and there. The show wasn't written as a comedy but it has comedic elements to back up it's plot.
I grew up with Scooby and it's really a shame that my generation doesn't appreciate it more. I'm only 16 but I'm one out of a hundred kids my age that actually respects and watches animation in general. 1 out of hundreds more who respects classic cartoons. Everyone has different opinions, but to show no respect to how important Scooby is in terms of longevity and creation of a genre should watch some more with that in mind. If you are like me and can find good in absolutely everything, it won't be a problem. And that's my entire, long opinion on it. Thanks for anyone who took the time to read the whole thing, hopefully it gives a different perspective.

You're really only 16?? Wow, I would have NEVER guessed that given your vast toon knowledge. Nevertheless, I'm glad you dig Scooby as much as I do, and I agree with everything you said. The villian design was great, rivaled by only He-Man, Thundercats, and Justice League IMO, and the comedic elements mixed in with the suspense of the mysteries are what I love most about Scooby.

The problem I have isn't so much that some of y'all dislike Scooby. It's the fact that y'all are whining that Scooby didn't deserve to be ranked as high as it was. That's a load of crap!! Whether you like the show or not, you've gotta at least respect the fact that it's maintained tremendous popularity after 40 years. For people like HG Revolution and JohanLiebert to say that Scooby isn't classic and "doesn't have any redeeming qualities" is complete and total bull. Them not liking something doesn't make is less classic. I hate Spongebob Squarepants (personally I like Ren & Stimpy, Doug, Rugrats, and Rocko's Modern Life better), but it will probably end up becoming a classic. It's the most popular toon Nick has had since Rugrats.
The Cartoon was right, I guess you really do have to watch Scooby as a kid to fully enjoy it. Because all I'm seeing are a bunch of guys 25 and under (if even that old) that are complaining.
I don't dislike Futurama, but I think it's tremendously overrated by this site. It's nowhere near the 4th best toon of all time. I'm not sure if it'd make my Top 50. Scooby is funnier, better written, and has better plots and storylines IMO. The only reason Futurama has better animation is because it was made in 1998 whereas Scooby was made in 1969. That means nothing to me though. Futurama is forgettable. If it's so great, why wasn't it revived sooner??? Family Guy was revived because of massive DVD sales. Futurama was revived only because one or two people on Comedy Central like it. It's a cult favorite at best. Even American Dad and King Of The Hill stayed on the air longer, and I can't stand either of those shows. Comparing Futurama to Scooby Doo is like comparing Oscar Mayer Bologna to Prime Rib Steak!!
Bottom line, when your favorite shows have been (or eventually get) cancelled and don't get run on CN, Boomerang, Nick, or Disney, Scooby will still be around. Hence, it is an undisputed CLASSIC.

I agree with you about a lot of stuff. Scooby's biggest strength, over even the charismatic dane himself, is it's mood - the whole pseudo-horror theme that prevails throughout most of the series. The thing is, while this makes it entertaining (and maybe even earns it a spot in the top fifty), IMO it belongs nowhere near the top twenty, or even the top thirty, series. There's just too many other series that have more going for them - mainly, series that are genuinely funny, instead of joking about how they're not being funny.
The villains are interesting, pre-unmasking, I'll give you that. A very nice rogue's gallery, though it'd be nice if one of them showed up more then once...
The visuals and the characters, we'll just have to agree to disagree on. I hate the designs of the humans, and I think the fact that movement is so stilted takes a lot out of the show - the backgrounds are ridiculously unimaginative, as well. The characters, besides Scooby (and, maybe Shaggy) never develop beyond a single word: "Smart, pretty, and leader" for Velma, Daphne, and Fred respectively.
Finally, what you call consistent, I call bland. The show's basic plot is the same so often that I actually loved Scrappy - at least, at first - just for livening things up, no matter how little he did so.

In the 90's, Disney still felt classic even though it doesn't really feel like it now. Darkwing Duck was a great cartoon in a series of Disney Afternoon and duck cartoons of the era. It was funny and action-packed at the same time.

I am confused. When you all are saying something is ranked too low, are you saying it is to far back in the list or to far up in the list? Because numerically, going lower is counting to the front, not the back lol.

Who would have thought that such a show could make the Top 20 of a countdown in a forum where you have to be at least 13 to join? It seems so absurd but Powerpuff Girls is maybe the best Cartoon Cartoon ever made. I used to watch it all the time and have fond memories even though I haven't seen it in a while.

This show is fantastic. It's one of the darkest projects that Disney has ever worked on and it is a huge success. The characters were maybe the best part of the show, taking away nothing from the writing which was also great. The setting of Scotland was a very nice touch.
