Toonzone's Top 50 Animated Movies!

Bah, I watched Ferngully reccently and I still find it enjoyable. I'm glad this film and The Secret of Nihm made the lists.

So, what's going to be in the top 10? Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Wall-E, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and Aladdin are all safe bets, but what about the other 4? Bambi or Dumbo, maybe? Ghost in the Shell? Something out-of-left-field but utterly deserving like Waltz With Bashir?

People love to complain. Sure I question a few choices on the list, but hey, I didn't vote so I have no right to complain why "Movie X" didn't make the list. Sure I would want Lilo and Stitch to be higher, but hey I missed the window to vote. Really, guys, it's not like Fern Gully made top 10, we're entering the 30's. Let's see what else is in it.

As for the reason why I didn't vote, I knew I would regret not voting for a certain movie.

Wall-E, Toy Story, Nemo, Monsters Inc., and Incredibles will all probably be there. has Ratatouille showed up yet? that could be there too. Not to mention the Lion King and probably Bambi and Aladdin.

I've rewatched twice since i turned 20+ and i loved it both times.

Which is more i can say about a certain rip-off that hit the theaters recently.

Avatar ripped of FernGulley? I thought it was supposed to have ripped off Dances with Wolves. Or was it Pocahontas? Wait, might have been Firekind.

James Cameron must be a master thief - he's managed to steal the exact same thing from four different places at the same time.

I agree. If you didn't vote, you can't complain. However, while it wasn't on my list, I remember loving FernGully and it sent out a great message. I have no problem with it being on here at all. And as Daxdiv said, the contest really starts when we get to the Top 30 because those movies all got a really good amount of points.

#38 DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp

I love DuckTales and have heard fantastic things about this movie. Unfortunately, I have yet to see it myself.

#37 The Wrong Trousers*

Before anyone says anything. Yes, this is arguably not a movie. It is a 30-minute short film. Some may argue either way, but I don't want to start something. Either way, it received the points neccesary to get this slot. If you don't think that it is an animated film then just dismiss it entirely. #51 was Lupin III: Castle of Caligostro and if this one didn't count, it would be replaced by that.

Man, I really want to see this movie now! It looks unbelievable. Perhaps some people who have seen it could comment on it's placing? And a small hint for the countdown. 2009 was a great year for animation.

I believe that someone mentioned that this film had something to do with a previous one in the countdown, The Cat Returns. Well here it is! I personally know nothing about it but it must be good to have made it to this spot.

I think I might have a copy of "Treasure of the Lost Lamp" somewhere in my home. I remember watching that video every weekend when I was a kid due to how much I loved Ducktales. Kind of strange to see the Wrong Trouser on it, but I still enjoy watching this Wallace and Gromit short. Still need to see Coraline (I know, I suck.), and haven't even heard of Whisper of the Heart until now.

Coraline was a great film, even if I found the book a little better. Still, it had unique animation, and a great cast.

I loved Whisper of the Heart, a Ghibli film, because really it's just a light-hearted film, and it doesn't try to confuse you or impress you with ridiculous plot twists, but it's just a good, sweet slice-of-life kinda movie.

Not to nitpick, but that's a picture of the manga it was based on (I think...) You can keep it that way, though. :sweat:

And although between WotH and the Cat Returns there's little similarity, The Cat Returns re-features the Baron and Muta.

38. I remember seeing it sometime around first grade, and I recall that it was quite good.

37. While I prefer A Close Shave, this one was very good. I loved the train scene with Feathers and Gromit.

36. Can't go wrong with a Selick/Gaiman creation.

Aw man, Bambi just has to be on the top 10 list (or Dumbo, but i doubt it to much to hope...). What has the animation fandom come to if we can whip up a list like this and not a single one of Walt Disney's masterpieces ends up any higher on it than spot 29?! :sad:

Well guys, I'm really sorry. I screwed up again. Somehow Princess Mononoke disappeared from the list while I was in the process of creating it. It should have appeared at #23. That means everything behind it goes down one, removing Pokemon Movie: 2000 from the list.

This may be my favorite Pixar movie. It's hilarious, has a great story, and character cast. Particularly Dory, who is voiced brilliantly by Ellen DeGenerous.
