Toonzone's Top 50 Animated Movies!

Disney certainly dominated this portion of the list. I'm a bit surprised to see Cars this high up. Seeing Ponyo this high up really makes me want to see it. Good to see a few more Disney classics that I love, especially Fantasia which I'm a little surprised made the list. Also nice to see Mask of the Phantasm. I saw it again after quite some time last year and man I couldn't believe how great it was.

Porco Rosso: never seen
The Little Mermaid: this spot is about right. it's fun to watch, but it's definitely not the best animated Disney movie
Cars: hopefully, this means that the better Pixar movies(which would be all of them except A Bug's Life) are higher. It really is a good movie, but it's still my 2nd least favorite pixar flick.
Fantasia: eh, it's ok
Beauty and the Beast: Gaston is probably my favorite Disney villain besides Yzma.
Ponyo: haven't seen
Pinocchio: really an amazing movie. my #2 disney movie of all time
Mask of the Phantasm: one of DC's best animated movies, only behind Return of the Joker(which was already on the list) imo.

Even as a pokemon fan, I find it exceedingly difficult to see what people like about the first two films, outside nostalgia. They really haven't aged well (and frankly, weren't good at their time of release), and as far as pokemon goes, there are more heartfelt and imaginative films, not to mention better animated.

Okay, I didn't even realize this started, so a few general comments.

-Mulan wasn't ranked high enough. It's my favorite Disney movie, next to maybe just the Lion King. Granted, it's also the only one I really remember....

-Glad to see Return of the Joker and especially Mask of the Phantasm ranked high. I was stunned by how great they were - I ranked Phantasm the highest out of all non-Pixar films (and by the way, Pixar dominated my list).

-Cars? In the Top Thirty? I haven't seen it, but isn't it supposed to be Pixar's worse film? Yup, Pixar's gonna dominate this thing....

-Top place'll probably be either Incredibles, Finding Nemo, or (maybe) Lion King. Could be Toy Story, also, but I doubt it.

Agreed. The only thing I even remember about the first Pokemon movies was that it was the first animated movie I saw get constant F's in the movie review section in the AJC and how bored I was when I was forced to sit through it after school. Oh, and it currently has a 3.8 on IMDB. Can I put Tom and Jerry: The Movie on the list as well?

and on top of that, it's over Castle of Cagliostro and Lilo and Stitch. ...?!?!

Since this only covers 22 random members favorites, I can take this with grain of salt. I understand you can't please everybody and at the end of the day, it's just opinion, but if you are going to do Top/Best/Greatest Anything EVER! lists like these, it be nice for you guys to take more things into account.

or just change it to rabroad's 50 Favorites.

Oh, just saw those H.M.'s.

Yeah, I had Cagliostro on my list, but it is my least favorite Miyazaki movie... But it definitely should've beaten Pokemon. (I admit, I loved the Pokemon movies when I was younger...)

Naa....
Up'll easily make Top Ten, possibly even Top Five (I had it #4, behind three other Pixars), but not first. My money's on the Incredibles for first....

Don't worry people, that is the only Pokemon movie to make the list. I certainly wouldn't have added it, but from here on I think you'll find the list much better. Remember though, this is an average list of opinions. It won't meet any one person's exact expectations or likely even get close. Try and view from a larger perspective.

So neither Fantasia or Pinocchio got a spot in the top 10? :(

Man, i sure do hope Snow White makes it to the top 10. Seriously, you cant have a top 10 animated films list without at least ONE of Disney's golden age films in it, you just CANT!!!

Good to see Secret of Nimb, and Hercules on the list. I'm also very happy that The Cat Returns made the cut, it's my favorite of the Studio Ghibi movies.

I've reviewed my top 20 choices and as a matter of fact i DID include "Lilo & Stitch".

Apparently i was the only one to do so, cause even its' 8th place in my list alone wasn't enough to make it into big 50.

Secret of NIMH being higher than Lilo (even if it's other way around in my list) means that there were few other members who included it.

Man, now I feel bad that I voted for Pokemon the Movie 2000. Though, it's one of my favorite animated movies, it sure as hell ain't better than Lilo and Stitch.

Ah well, what can you do?

Quoted for truth. When I was in middle school I liked the Pokemon movies as much as the next kid, but these days there's literally NO reason to watch them aside from nostalgic value. Not to mention, as a huge fan of Lilo & Stitch, it hurts my heart to see it not make the list. :(

I'll save everyone the trouble... The Lion King. There.

But really, can any other movie take depression, joy and majesty and make a movie quite as fantastic as TLK? Nah... this is pretty much the eptimoe of my childhood. It got me through Kindergarten, those long, lonely nights I would look at my Lion King poster (Muffie and Simbie) and listen to my Lion King tape over and over while clutching my Nala and Simba kiss-kiss dolls. It's treasured and I intend to expose my little ones to the awesomeness of Lion King one day. BRA-HA-HA-HA-HA! But, that IMO.

I loved "Lilo and Stitch"...I can relate to Lilo on a personal level. Thanks for including this lively movie.
Also "Grave of the Fireflies" should have been included. You did include Lion King! Good for you ;)
"Batman Mask of Phantasm"
"Wonder Woman"
and "Spirited Away" Stunning animation and story for all of these.
There are more animated movies. I just can't think of any right now.
