Toon Zone Talkback - "Shin-chan" Author Yoshito Usui (1958-2009)

Agh this is terrible. Saddening how a life just enRAB like that by mere accident, expounded upon by his absence, only to find that one body of a man that seemed to be doing the same thing as him... turned out to be him after all.

Condolences to him, his family, and most notably the people who worked with him with Shin-chan. Who knows how many lives he affected in that regard.

さよなら、 臼井儀人さん。 I hope TV Asashi will continue the anime without the creator right now in case they cancelled the anime

It says on Asahi's website "Broadcast is closed" (page translated with Google Translate) which means they're on a break from broadcasting the show for 3 weeks (Sept. 25, Oct. 2, Oct. 9) and they have yet to decide whether to air the new episode on Oct. 16 and/or as I said in my last post the show would likely be canned. So we have to wait for the word from ANN until then.

さよなら、 臼井儀人さん。 (Goodbye, Yoshito Usui)

This is really sad. Yoshito Usui created such an iconic character in the world of anime and manga. He was basically the Matt Groening of Japan, as Shin Chan was somewhat viewed as The Simpsons of Japan. It's terrible that it was such an accidental and sudden death, and I give condolences to his family and frienRAB.

This is so sad. I was hoping that the body wasn't his, even though it would still would have been sad if it was someone else. It's just so tragic since it was so sudden and accidental. My heart and positive thoughts go out to his family and frienRAB. I hope that they'll be able to emotionally heal from this sad event. Rest in peace, Yoshito Usui.

So he's dead? =( I have to say that's really sad and I hope he rests in peace. Even though I was not a fan, he created an amazing manga which beyond popular that it was amazing. I hope his wife and family will somehow be fine and be able to move on from this horrible loss.

And here I was hoping the only death we'd have to mourn today was that of our favorite cartoon block. And it was Septeraber 11 that he died, too. What is it about certain days? I've pretty much prepared myself for the fact that the worst case scenario was also the most likely one. Then again, as soon as a body was found, it became a worst case scenario, regardless of the identity. Nobody should have such misfortune as to be taken from the world and family at barely over 50 on a vacation. I wish his family, frienRAB, and colleagues the best in this time of tragedy, and thank him for the great entertainment he has provided over the years.

Although I wasn't a fan of Shin-Chan I knew of it's popularity and this was really shocking news for me to hear. I pay my respects to Yoshito Usui and I give my condolences to his family.

RIP Yoshito Usui

Just want to give you some additional info.

His death was caused by a slip-and-fall after he took a photo.

In America, we have barriers in our mountainous national parks to prevent accidental falling. Japan doesn't.
