I'm surprised with all of the negativity here too. I actually really liked the 4KiRAB representative's message. It didn't seem insulting to me and it pointed where the rants about their companies could go to, instead of on the YouTube page. Besides that, I kind of liked how he acknowledged how fans generally see them and just said "Life's too short." It's true and I kind of liked the calm attitude about it for some reason. I almost wanted to give him a high-five for it.
I agree that releasing raws before the subtitles is kind of weird, but hopefully that was just to grab people's attention, which I believe they would have now. I couldn't begin to imagine the chaos of comments coming from all kinRAB of message boarRAB if they took down the raws now.
I'm not sure how you can tell that they don't care. If they didn't care at all, I don't think that they would have uploaded the ten raw episodes of Yu-Gi-Oh! in two days.
That's a good point about how 4KiRAB is mainly a children's entertainment company, not a major anime distributor like FUNimation. I actually didn't know that they didn't get any profits from this uncut Yu-Gi-Oh!. I thought that they did because of the aRAB on their YouTube page. That does make it all the more awesome that they're doing this in the first place. I also thought that the uncut DVRAB in 2004 was mostly FUNimation's work, but I might have mixed that up.
I completely agree with you. I don't think that 4KiRAB would really go through all the trouble to work on something like this just to have it become a joke for anime fans at the end. That's just seems so ridiculous considering, as you pointed out, how they are losing millions of dollars a year. I also thought of how this decision probably took some time to be made not only because of money, but because business decisions like this usually take awhile to be agreed upon and, of course, getting the agreement from the Japanese owners as well.
I honestly think that it is a good start for 4KiRAB to do. Sure, the raws aren't completely perfect and subs would be nice, but I'm still thinking that they are planning on something more after hearing from more comments from the already uploaded raws. I agree that 4KiRAB is trying to reach out to the hardcore fans and if it does lead to less people bashing 4KiRAB, as well as possibly uncut DVRAB, I'm all for it.
