TNA Wrestling on Bravo (Part 3)

I'd like TNA to bring back their 6-sided ring, and go for a more realistic product, instead of a cartoony product like some WWE matches have become

at least Benoit (sorry to mention his name!) managed to make the Crippler Crossface LOOK realistic in WCW and WWE, but Cena's attempts as an STF are just shit! he never hooks the legs, and never leans back on the head so the move looks more limp than Katie Vick's tits!

if TNA were to produce a more realistic looking product, with emphasis on snug/tight moves and tighter punches/kicks, it would be a great looking product but they really need their 6-sided ring back to give themselves a different look to WWE

wrestlers who worked in TNA complained mostly about the 6-sided ring being too small, all they have to do is make a larger one by approx 2 feet on each side, which would give them a HUGE in-ring area to work with, and bring back that unique look to TNA which would visually separate them from looking like a WWE knock-off, but it would also give them the chance to make their product look better as a true alternative

you want fake cartoony sports entertainment in a four-sided ring? go watch WWE

you want (admittedly fake) realistic pro-wrestling, come watch TNA!

Depressing news, this. Although, the amount of unique and un-repeated programming on Bravo made this sort of inevitable.

Extreme Sports does look like the best and most likely option for iMPACT! to go to, due to their link with TNA PPV's. However, one thing that is interesting, is the ratings TNA iMPACT! currently gets. This makes it a very interesting acquisition for many TV channels looking for 50,000 - 100,000 homes on a Saturday Night, even when it's against Match of the Day.

In a new TV channel, I would like to see the opportunity for live broadcasting, and also a closer-to-Thursday showing of iMPACT!. Not only would this improve TNA's ratings by getting it away from MotD, but also mean we wouldn't be scared of TV spoilers.

I knew the Sky takeover would result in many cost-cutting measures, and I knew TNA would be one of them.

If Five could guarantee a late slot (after 9pm on a Friday/Saturday,) I'd be happy to see TNA there. Remember, WCW Worldwide aired at 7pm on a Friday night for an hour, so that's why it was edited. (Granted, the cartoon shit was NOT needed.)

I would like to think that TNA have seen this coming, given Bravo and the VMTV channels have been for sale for quite some time. (A year and a half, plus?) and that makes me further side with Extreme Sports.

Where else?

  • Extreme Sports - Pos: Already carry TNA Programming. Neg: Sky Packaging problems resulting in slight ratings drop.
  • ESPN - Pos: Heavy Advertising and exposure, HD. Neg: Subscription service, Ratings suicide.
  • SyFy - Pos: Erm... Neg: Strange channel-choice for Wrestling.
  • Premier Sports - Pos: None. Neg: Unavailable to certain platforms.
  • Dave - Pos: Freeview, high viewer share. Neg: Not primarily interested in sports programming, known for frequent repeats.
  • Five - Pos: Terrestrial, exposure, advertising, previous Wrestling programming. Neg: Possible editing, poor time-slots.
  • Five USA - Pos: Freeview, relatively high viewer share, advertising, primarily an American-TV-show Channel, HD. Neg: Possible editing.
  • Sky Sports - Pos: Previous Wrestling experience, massive sports-market share, high advertising, good time-slots available. Neg: Ultra-high subscription pricing, current WWE license, certain HD channels not available to non-Sky customers.
  • Eurosport - Pos: Previous Wrestling experience, undergoing customer surveyed revamp, HD. Neg: possible editing & commentary, Packaging problems.
  • MTV - Pos: Previous Wrestling experience, HD. Neg: Primarily drama/comedy/music programming, no sports programming.
  • On Demand (Sky Anytime, Virgin On Demand, BT Vision) - Pos: Available at any time to people wanting to watch, possible avenue for PPV On Demand programming and LIVE programming (like Box Office), available to all on platforms that receive On Demand programming, TV rating resulting in no/nearly no editing, no advertisements, HD, On Demand controls (FF, RW) for non-PVR viewers. Neg: Harder to determine viewing figures, Unavailable to certain platforms, possible pay-for-programming (which I wouldn't mind, to be honest.)

For me, it's Extreme Sports, Eurosport or On Demand. ESPN with a slight outside chance.

If sky were to put TNA on sky sports along with the wwe (or any other pay to view channel), I wonder how many of the regular viewers would be watching it legally?

Something tells me if that happend TNA ratings would nosedive

Yet you want more realism? One of the main reasons TNA looks 'cartoony' is because of Russo's ridiculous writing. Not being funny, but you'll never see one with the other here. Russo wouldn't know real-life if it crashed into his house.

Ha. Kudos for that one. :D

I agree!! to be honest I just don't think TNA has the fan base to fill these bigger arena's which could look pretty bad on TV. Imagine seeing half empty arena's it would bring back the sad days of WCW 2000-01.

It's good to see Impact getting rave reviews from fans on lots of different forums online. Lack of wrestling or not it was a good show from top to bottom and who cares about the main event. Some of you wanted them to keep stuff for the PPVs well maybe their starting to do that now.

Thought iMPACT was OK this week, Would have been much better though had i actually expected 80% soap opera and 20% wrestling. It would also have helped if the rare matches were actually worth watching.

Extreme Sports isn't part of a Virgin package? Where'd that come from? I have it. It's in the L and XL packs.

Which is why I'd vote in favour of ES getting it. Then I can downgrade, save money and not lose TNA. :) Although I would lose ESPN. :(

You lot need to have a gander in your local Pound stores. (Poundland, Pound World, etc)

Picked up Victory Road 08 from mine the other day. Apparently, there's a load of 'Cross the Line' titled DVD's in there of PPV's. :D

Insider sites sometimes get information and can't announce it until it happens on tv as it would be obvious who fed them information. Whether this is one of those occasions, who knows. Regardless of this new TNA restart, TNA still have the same problems it has now.
Also the vast of guys who go on the forums of the insider sites. For example wrestlingobserver.com. The guys there don't care about TNA. They gave up on TNA ages ago due to the all the stupid rubbish TNA produce.

Marks are guys who are fans with little insider knowledge of the product. It's an old carnival term. Guys who visit the insider sites probably vary between being smarks or smart fans as they have some inside knowledge. Regardless, these terms are usually just used by people to try and define some sort of intellectual superiority. It's a bit sad really.

The foley interview will be a fairly polite interview. Meltzer isn't the kindof get into a shouting match with guests. I read Meltzers comments on Foley and it really wasn't that bad. I think the issue here is Foley being very sensitive to criticism. I do think foley like many wrestlers care about what Meltzer says as in an industry that used to ignore its history, Meltzer does acknowledge it.

Thankyou :)

I'm quite looking forward to the Angle/Hardy match - never seen them together before.

I did fast forward the Nash/Sting/Jarrett/Joe tag match - i guess that's a symptom of me not watching Impact because I didn't really have any backstory for it and no real interest either way.

I wouldn't miss Bound for Glory simply for the nostalgia of what TNA used to be. But apart from that, it's generally just knocked me off tonight, especially after thinking all week that I'm losing interest in the whole thing and not just TNA, either.

I'm beginning to think that myself. I was frustrated not having something to watch last weekend, but this weekend, I wish it had just cut off before that stupid ending.

No offence guys, but you should know by now to leave forums alone if you want to watch something completely spoiler free.It shouldn't be that way but it is.

As for B4G - I'd definitely take a look.It was one of TNA's better booked carRAB.Good crowd and some very good action from top to bottom.

PPV's are just about profitable to TNA once as you said they factor in DVD sales and world wide distribution fees. What they really need to do is convince the US audience that their product a) is worth $40 and b) has to be seen right then, rather than wait until Thursday to see whats happened. Which they will NEVER do as long as they're giving away top matches for free just days before their supposedly "big" shows.
