I wondered why the overlap also...seems one is specifically a bar just for drinking and the other is Ruby Tuesday's....?

first off, i'm not sure if i'm more disturbed by the fact that you apparently carry a gun AND a baton, or your archaic, quotation bound vague insults by your hypothetical assailants.

second, there is WAY too much stupid shit going on at a lot of bars to even begin to start poking holes in your scenario.

Third, I'm not anti-gun. I have plenty of them. I'm just not a stereotypical "gun person". I also find it ironic that you accuse me of living in fear when you apparently have no problem with a guy that would end lives rather than get into a bar scuffle.
 
expand your mind a bit and think outside the box. perhaps the problem isn't the gun or the gun owner. maybe its the bar and the bar atmosphere.

Nonsense, responsible gun owners would only draw their weapon in the rare instances when the establishment is being robbed and lives are at stake.

I totally agree w/ your Dad....w/ that being said, I don't believe a change in times relinquishes any clear and present danger that may arise in the future.
 
Why should a guy get into a "bar scuffle"? Why is being assaulted superior to self defense? If some guy randomly attacked me on the street I'd be perfectly within my rights to shoot him, so what makes it different when it happens in a bar?
 
I am not arguing that you shouldn't be able to bring guns into bars. I am arguing that you are over-rating the threat tremendously.
 
They can afford to spend money on things like weapons, because they are better educated and more than likely higher paid as a result of said education.
 
So when I walk into a bar carrying a concealed firearm, what exactly is different than say me walking into walmart with the same concealed firearm?
 
I am fully in agreement with laws that bar people from drinking while carrying

Again with your assumption that all gun owners are irresponsible and will shoot people instead of maybe getting punched. Seriously, deadly force (or the threat of) is an absolute last resort no matter where I happen to be, this doesn't change because I'm in an establishment that serves alcohol.
 
Compare crime rates between CCW permit hold per capita and the general population per capital. It does not trend with your theory.
