this was a great animated film. a great tribute to the ninja turtles franchise as a whole. the respect paid to the original classic turtles was a really nice touch.
as far as critiques go. i do agree that there was a little too much bashing of the 80's/90's toon turtle characters. they handled 80's toon splinter nicely and the poking fun at the fourth wall jokes and the silly toon villians was really good. but i felt that there was just a little too much 'we're the cool modern age toon and you guys are bumbling dorks' stuff going on. especially the way krang and shredder were constantly just slapped around. it was good for laughs but as silly as shredder eventually became in the old toons, he was still a pretty fierce commanding villan in the first seasons of the show. here they made it look like he's forgotten how to even throw a punch-until maybe the final battle scene.
but the good far outweighs the bad here. this was a really cool and fun movie for any kind of turtle fan out there. the closing scene was handled really nice too.
some of my fav scenes was the classic turtles calling out utrom shredder on the roof recreating the original comic scene, the opening scene were we're introduced to the 80's toon turtles in they're confrontation with hun, and mikey's 'i love these guys!"
*btw also noticed in the 80's toon verse, one of the people walking in the crowd looked alot like the human version of rocksteady. interesting.
