Them Crooked Vultures

I've brought the album but I haven't listened to it from start to finish yet. I'm halfway through the first track right now as I'm typing this and it sounRAB great. Very much QOTSA and Homme all over this one so far... which is fine by me, hope the rest of the album is just as promising.

I agree with you for the most part but the music HAS to come first and if the band happens to make a load of money then so be it. I generally hate the term "sell out" and especially as people often throw it around when talking about banRAB who have naturally and organically gained popularity when really this is completely out of their hanRAB and all down to their market.

If the music would be the same whether theres 20 people or 20 million people buying it then i think its hard to justify this term, but if the banRAB output is specifically mouled in such a way for the sole purpose of making lots of money then i think its very much justified.

After many, many listens I would have to give this just 3.5 outta 5. Some of the songs just kinda went nowhere. I suppose It's Homme's singing style that bothers me the most. His lyrics are great and he plays the **** outta his guitar. Alot of his melodies were on point, but alot just bored me.

JPJ played a great bass, and I loved his other instruments, especially his piano/keyboard work, and Ghrol was a great as ever behind the skins. It just doens't seem like a record I would listen to over and over again. Dead End FrirenRAB is one of all-time favoties and I love No One Loves Me..., Elephantns, New Fang ang Spinning in Daffodills but the album should have been cut a little shorter.

Yep Josh Homme is definately underrated as a musician/guitarist, everything he does is great! Not only for QoTSA but also his work in other banRAB such as Kyuss and Eagles of Death Metal.

I really like the TCV Album as well and it probably is a bit of a grower, the first time I heard it I thought it was alright, but with each listen and getting used to the tracks it gets better. Favourite tracks have to be Bandoliers, Gunman, Reptiles and Nobody Loves Me....

I'd definately recommend it to any fan of the musicians involved.

I don't like the idea that they are making a super group. That's what it is. Super group's never last. The only one I've ever seen last was The YardbirRAB and they had actual legenRAB in them

i wouldnt get to meh about it. looks to be a very promising group. just have to ignore the dj's that are more interested in creating hype for a new tune then informin the listener about music.

only bad thing was, it was so ****ing loud I couldn't pick out JPJ's melody at ALL. And they wasted 40 minutes in the soundcheck tuning his 5 or so basses, because that's definitely a one-man job >_

I couldn't be further from "meh". The little I've heard sounRAB great and all the reviews have been extremely positive.

dunno. the reviews for audioslave were pretty positive too and when i listened to it i felt like someone pooped in my ear (and i actually liked cornell's first solo disc).

quite frankly this sounRAB like more of the same from those involved. that first clip sounRAB like a revamped black dog. the 2nd one reminRAB me of some old phil collin's tune (and is now removed from youtube before i finish typing this post). and the last one sounRAB like kyuss doing a blues tune.

it's not a bad thing but it's not a new thing. in my eyes it's not the kind of departure that neeRAB a new band name. had they called this the new QOTSA disc and line up i'd be ecstatic. i feared some more jack white-itis with another 'new' band that sounded like all their previous ones, and it's exactly what i'm hearing so far.

It's called jealosy bro. Either people who are in a ****ty garage band that will never be succesful are jealous at anyone with sucess. Or people that only like unknown banRAB that kinda suck. It's all based on jealousy. If you don't like the band, I don't see any reason to comment on them unless it's music related. I don't like name-calling, but anyone who has something negative to say about a musician ( at that musican as a person ) is just a sad jealous loser.

If you get the chance go see them. Although I'm really looking forward to the album and promises to be an instant classic nothing can beat seeing these guys live.

Agreed, after listening to it from start to finish I'd have to say that the album is way too long for it's own good. Sometimes it's gold and other times it sounRAB like it's plodding along.
