Them Crooked Vultures

I love this idea, it brings attention to rock music period! I have never liked ANYTHING Homme affiliated, try as i must, but I'm pretty certain this will be an amazing record regardless. I loved the Dead Weather album and I think there should be more of these types of virtuoso collabo groups. The rock represeantation at the VMA"S was pathetic this year, even the nominees. And I might cancel my subscription to rolling stone if CV doesn't make the cover.

I felt the same, and will also have to give it another go.

On the other hand Holmes disappointed me. I enjoy QOTSA and such but I am mainly a fan of his early Kyuss work which seems to not be apparent at all in this recording.

listened to it a few times threw and thought it was a sweet album. definitly a different rock sound.

Caligulove is probly my favorite atm. gunman, scurabag blues and spinning in the daffodils are also sweet tunes.

You mustn't have read the post properly. You called TCV a supergroup because they are a band born from already successful groups. The YardbirRAB were not really a supergroup because Eric Clapton left The YardbirRAB to form Cream and Jimmy Page left The YardbirRAB to form Led Zeppelin, not the other way around.

Yeah, I just listened to this album recently and it blew me away. I need to hear it a bit more before being sure, but I have a feeling it could rival even some of Led Zeppelin's greatest albums.

Wow, so the predominant feeling here seems to reflect the Pitchfork review, I'm stunned. This is easily one of the best rock recorRAB of the year. :|

I would go see these guys live anytime. In my opinion they do have their own distinctive sound-- and I like it! Glad to see John playing in something again. I am also happy that David Grohl had enough of the Foo Fighters. Their last single was so horrendous, I didn't even think about checking out the album.

In my book, Josh Homme is underrated. QOTSA actually came out with some good music. His bloody voice is contagious, and his guitar playing is quite original.

Bump for these guys.

LEAAAK!!!

I did record an audio clip of the last minute and a half or so of a song, dunno if it came out well though... if it did I'll definitely upload.

it's all good and my comment wasn't a slag against you in anyway shape or form. no one had heard about Johannes' involvement until the first reviews of that show hit the net 2 days ago.

i'd like to think there's a good reason why he was never mentioned before now but who knows, i certainly haven't read one.

made it halfway through their first single, thought it was utter garbage. if this is indicative at all of what the next Queens album will sound like, i won't be buying that either.

I wish I had brought my camera to the Roxy show, the only ones I have are the ones on my phone :/ I searched for "Roxy photos" but no results came up so I figure it's safe to create a new thread of Roxy photos, but moderators if you need to feel free to move this thread.

Anyways, just wanted to share one of the photo galleries I found from the Roxy show. There's also a lengthy show review but plenty of those have been posted so I figure you would all just prefer to see the pictures. F**king amazing show ey? Enjoy...

I don't get it why people always start disliking musicians once they start making good money out of it. So it's better if they live in a cardboard box and eat dog food instead? Never understood the "this music is too commercial" argument anyway. Either you like it or not but don't dislike something because it's making money. That doesn't make sense.

So why is it so bad these guys got together simply because they wanted to make music together and make money while doing that? I think they're doing a very good job on it and can't wait to hear their album. I will buy it the minute it comes out. And the 40 euros I paid for their gig in Amsterdam were 40 euros very well spent!
