Mr beans holiday, Spiderman 3 and Shrek 3 - big dissapointments from 2007.
The simpsons movie restored my faith in the TVshows /movies that i love. It was almost perfect in everyway, with a strong, interesting plot, emotional moments and really funny scenes. "OH WHY DID I SUGGEST THIS?!" lol
The scene were marge tapes over their wedding video was very upsetting, and some great acting on julie cavners part.
It brought together all the things we love from the classic episodes, (Including the terrible geography of springfield - since when was the simpsons house at the edge of springfield? lol) and beats all the other blockbusters from this year.
10/10 - and im not giving that rating flippantly.

I enjoyed it. I laughed at many parts, and had a lump in my throat at the part where Marge tapes over the wedding video.

Exactly. The emotional part of the film was the only part I really enjoyed.
I had already seen all of the funny parts a million times before reaching the cinema.
There was also no subtlety at all in the movie, unlike the early episodes. Compare Scorpio with the baddy in this movie.
It seems to be that the Simpsons is now just a stupidity contest between all of the characters.
All in all, I was disappointed.

Really thought most of it was average, alot of the jokes had been used on promotional material e.g the massive amount of trailers pumped out for the promotion, so when i did go to see it i knew alot of the jokes allready, it really damaged the movie for me.

Jeeze...get a grip. People shouldn't just throw around the word 'retard' like its an insult. Some people take great offence to the word. Some people (including the majority of critics) thought the film was great and funny - just because you didn't doesn't mean you have to insult them. Grow up.
But anyway...back on track. I've already said I thought the film was excellent, with the only thing missing being Mr Burns, who, in my opinion, was criminally under-used.

My favourite few bits were:
- Bart graffitying the poster, only for the graffitied family to walk through the door...haha
- Cletus not being able to dump the waste in the river, so just walking into the barrier
- A small bit right at the start, when Mr Burns held out his tootbrush, and Smithers put toothpaste on it, and made Mr. Burns fall over...mwaha
Plus loaRAB of other things, like Grand Theft Walrus, the Titanic gag etc, and just small gags, like when Homer finished his vision with the inuit lady, he woke up, then just batted her aside!

That was the only thing I was properly disappointed with. I was hoping they were going to satirise the "out of the blue love interest" storylines that are so stereotypical of "family films". Instead of satirising it they just gave it fuel. It seemed tacked on for me - "giving Lisa something to say and do" rather than anything else - a bit lazy, especially since the character of Lisa is often (in the TV series) the one who has had a rich well of clever/interesting/poignant storylines over the years (Lisa's Substitute, Lisa the Iconoclast, Summer of 4ft 2).
Other than that it was decent - it sagged a bit in the middle, a bit too much "marriage on the rocks" pap. The first 30 minutes was excellent, then it struggled for 30 minutes, before picking up for the last 30.
Some very nice background noRAB as well. Jumping the gorge on the motorbike at the end - a nod way back to Bart the Daredevil - then an even subtler nod to the same episode when after they had jumped it there was a crashed ambulance against a tree behind them, nodding to the one that homer fell out the back of and back down the gorge.

I saw it yesterday and LMAO- I thought it was brilliant I'd read a couple of lukewarm reviews so my expectations weren't too high, it has to be said, but I really enjoyed it. I think the tv show has set such high standarRAB over the years that they were never going to live up to some people's expectations, but even an average 90 minutes of the Simpsons is still going to be miles funnier than most other comedies. I would have liked to see more of Mr Burns, cos he's one of my favourite characters, but aart from that I can't really fault it.
My favourite moments were Green Day/Titanic, Spider Pig, the guy getting flattened by the dome, Martin beating up the bullies and President Schwarzennegger ("I was elected to lead, not read" ). That's just off the top of my head, there's more that I can't remember right now. I can't wait for the DVD

My advice to enjoy it is to avoid ALL reviews and opinions, but go in with low expectations, and make up your OWN mind. A friend of mine went in to the theatre thinking it would be "amazing" and while he still thought it was good, he felt slightly underwhelmed by it, whereas i went in with low expectations and absolutely loved it.

OK, I finally seen this movie last night - it was great IMO - a lot better than your average Simpson's episode nowadays. However I must admit it pales in comparison to the 'Family Guy' movie, perhaps the Simpson's movie would have been better if it wasn't so overdue and release a few years ago when it was at its best.
Oh and Ralph wasn't in the movie enough!

And to be honest I think most Councils would have over-ruled the BBFC if they'd given it a 12. They wouldn't have stood the pressure from the cinemas about loss of custom when it's a cartoon.
PS. Local authorities are able to issue there own classification on films which are valid within the county boundries for those that didn't know. It's quite a rare thing but it was used recently for This Is England when some counties dropped it from an 18 to a 15.
