The Simpsons Movie-*major-spoilers Dont Look If Youve Not Seen*

Dont know if this is true, but originally the simpsons movie was to be give a 12 rating by the BBFC, but given its mass appeal, it was eventually downgraded to a PG, after some scenes were cut .. Expect the dvd version to be released uncut, and maybe with a 12 rating.

Good film, some really humourous parts, do think that it lacked something .. cant really put my finger on it, though, in comparison to the tv show.

Just got back from seeing it was fantastic. Although these scum chavettes would not bloody shut up for some of it RAB!! Still really enjoyed it. By the way is Doctor Nick dead for good? Is he coming back into the series?

finally saw it today and i've got admit the 1st half was reaally slow and after watching the trailers, I kept on wondering where Rev. Lovejoys "Money shot" scene was, along with Barney & Co, with Moe inside the Bar, that highlighted in the trailer.
does any one know how long the US version is, it's seems like a kid has cut the film to shreRAB.
I liked the bit with Martin finally getting his venegance on Jimbo and Co, but i'm still surprised that they seemd to have killed Dr Nick.
it was good that at the end, Bart showed that he missed Santa's Litttle Helper and was that SnowBall II I saw trying to eat the swallows that hit the dome?
would explain his absence from Springfield for most of the film. I liked the re-worked opening, when I first heard of this, I though it could replace the current and outdated TV opening, but it's seems that it could not transfer to the TV show.
overall i'll give it 7 out of 10, I just hope that like most sequel, the 2nd one will blow this one of the water.
this seemed to safe, the edge seemed to be missing.

Crap film and totally agree with Empire. One of the biggest movies in years and utterly disappointed with it. Apart from spider pig there really wasn't much else to find funny.

More fool you, then. One big part of the appeal of a Simpsons film was being in an audience of people all laughing along. Things are (or, tend to be) funnier if other people are laughing too - hence canned laughter on the majority of comedies. Sitting at home like a loser watching some poorly digitized pirate version online just so you can boast about it is somewhat missing the point.

Yeah I remember that too - there were a lot more signs on that taster clip than appeared in the actual film, like "No dumping"; "No, seriously, no dumping"; "We mean it"; "Think of the children" and stuff like that. Assume it'll be reinstated on the DVD.

Heh, that was funny - not heard that expression in ages!

Well, I loved the film. Just the right mix of funny, sad, and bittersweet all at the right time. Some excellent self-referential stuff, as mentioned by other people - Homer branding everyone a sucker for paying for something they could see on TV for free got the film off to an excellent start, for example. And some real comedy moments that - without wanting to spark another "Simpsons isn't as good as it used to be" debate - you could tell had been written by the "old-skool" writers.

What I also liked is that the trailers were proper teasers, rather than "the only two minutes of funny bits from the film". I'd seen Homer's "spider-pig" song sung a hundred times in the trailers, for instance - but then just that extra line "can he swing from a web? No he can't, he's a pig!" had me laughing at the scene all over again.

There'll obviously be some that won't like it, but I think for any season 2 to 10 Simpsons fan, it's a classic.

damn fine film, although apart from a little less censorship than the tv version I'm struggling to see why this was not a tv movie instead, can't wait for the dvd

I enjoyed it but even though I had low expectations due to recent seasons being crappy, I was still disappointed. I didn't laugh as much as I wanted to.

I heard that the movie was constantly changing so many trailer scenes might have been cut from the actual movie.

I'm guessing that the "Money Shot" scene was Lovejoy showing Marge footage of Abe's moment in the church. If that was the case I can see why they replaced it with Comic Book Guy's video phone footage, since nowadays when anything remotely out of the ordinary happens there is always someone with a video phone out.

Excellent film. Don't know what Empire was thinking with their two-star review!

A few minor disappointments, with a couple of jokes that fell flat, and not nearly enough Mr Burns, but overall I haven't laughed out loud so much in a film ... well, ever.

I particularly liked Martin, with the "I've been taking your crap all my life" scene. Brilliant.

Amen to that.

My thoughts exactly. Everyone still laughed at the initial Spider-Pig joke (and as I said elsewhere, it would have been an absolutely classic sight gag had it not been in the trailer) despite probably 80% of the audience having already seen it, but the extra line that wasn't in the trailer was brilliant.

I think it's suitable for a 6-year-old.

Part of the attraction of The Simpsons has always been that the adult stuff isn't picked up by children. I think the movie is pretty much the same.

As far as I can remember, the parts of the film you might be concerned about are:

- Bart's full fontal nude scene. I don't think it's anything to get worked up about and the joke is that there's been increasingly inventive ways of covering his manhood until finally everything else in shot is covered except for it. It lasts a couple of seconRAB only.

- There are three gay jokes. Two are verbal and probably won't even be picked up by your 6-year-old. One is visual but quite mild.

- There's a race joke, but again probably won't be picked up by your 6-year-old.

- In one scene, Homer gives the townsfolk the finger.

That's really all I can think of, and everything else (including some of the stuff above, really) is what you'd find in any episode of the TV show.

The pig returns in the first episode of series 19 which will be aired in the US in September

The episode will feature a couch gag that is a callback to The Simpsons Movie,[2] Plopper the pig will also feature for the first time in the series, having disappeared without explanation during the film.[3]

Couldnt stand this movie at all! With the trailers being on 24/7 ive seen the funny bits about 1000 times.

I only watched half of it before i closed the window ;) (Saw it online on google video)
