More fool you, then. One big part of the appeal of a Simpsons film was being in an audience of people all laughing along. Things are (or, tend to be) funnier if other people are laughing too - hence canned laughter on the majority of comedies. Sitting at home like a loser watching some poorly digitized pirate version online just so you can boast about it is somewhat missing the point.
Yeah I remember that too - there were a lot more signs on that taster clip than appeared in the actual film, like "No dumping"; "No, seriously, no dumping"; "We mean it"; "Think of the children" and stuff like that. Assume it'll be reinstated on the DVD.
Heh, that was funny - not heard that expression in ages!
Well, I loved the film. Just the right mix of funny, sad, and bittersweet all at the right time. Some excellent self-referential stuff, as mentioned by other people - Homer branding everyone a sucker for paying for something they could see on TV for free got the film off to an excellent start, for example. And some real comedy moments that - without wanting to spark another "Simpsons isn't as good as it used to be" debate - you could tell had been written by the "old-skool" writers.
What I also liked is that the trailers were proper teasers, rather than "the only two minutes of funny bits from the film". I'd seen Homer's "spider-pig" song sung a hundred times in the trailers, for instance - but then just that extra line "can he swing from a web? No he can't, he's a pig!" had me laughing at the scene all over again.
There'll obviously be some that won't like it, but I think for any season 2 to 10 Simpsons fan, it's a classic.
