The Official Nirvana/Kurt Cobain Thread

I love how when someone describes the truth to others, that Cobain was indeed a talentless hack, that they feel the need to automatically retaliate and immediately demand for the user to be banned. Rather pathetic to be honest with you.

Its not.

Roger Waters, Frank Zappa, David Bowie, Eddie Vedder, Nortorious B.I.G., Ozzy, Les Claypool, they all wrote songs about suicide, and none of them killed themselves.

lol

You clearly don't know what good finger picking is.

Joe Pass, Chet Atkins, Phil Keaggy, Merle Travis, Leo Kottke, Michael Hedges, Mark Knopfler, Jourma Kaukonen, LinRABey Buckingham and Robby Krieger >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Elliot Smith.

i've always liked nirvana, but i'm stil confused as to wether he killed himself or it just looked that way.. dun dun dun! anyways but its like i liked them and listened to them alot growing up that now its not that it bore's me its more like we know there's no new music coming out and then i just got sick of hearing the same songs over and over and there's not a whole lot of music period by them.. and also after a while all there songs kind of start to sound the same.. could be just me but ya that is what i think.. :o)

I've complained about credibility since I got here, and how people needing it made debate and discussion worse, and if any band seems to draw the "not that good" credibility, its Nirvana.

It must be from a diffrent time and place, maybe if you're surrounded by a million Nirvana fans, you'd grow to dislike them, but Nirvana and their peers are banRAB that were undoubtedly great, I just never hear people claim them for their favorite band.

Regardless of any of that, they are well reviewed for a reason. If someone comes here and says "you know, their really not my thing", I still won't understand why they came in here, but I'll at least respect their opinion.

When you show up with "Nirvana was overrated/****ty/underserving of praise/ect." to me that says you're looking for attention. Especially in this thread.

When a bunch of us started and Stu was driving Zep down our throats I probably said Zeppelin sucks alot, and yes I was lying, but that wasn't in the "Official Led Zeppelin" thread.

My point in all of this is that its a lame grab for attention, and that to slag a decent band is trite and getting old. I saw someone do it recently in some other thread and I figured rather than address it there, I'd bring it up here where I suppose its appropriate.

...and by that, you mean, "I was only two years old when Kurt faked his death to escape the corporate cluster**** that his music became."

That's the truth. After he faked his death he fled to a small suburb in western Pennsylvania where he assumed a new identity. Sure, he might look like a seventy-year-old woman, but I can assure you he's the real Kurt Cobain. Kurt, or "Martha," as he besieges me to call him, was responsible for grunge as well as Britpop, garage music, jazz, hip hop and most classical music. He's definitely a recluse, but that still doesn't lessen my appreciation for his enormous contribution to the musical universe. And to think there aren't people that worship him. Idiots.

Houdini was produced by Kurt Cobain, and it's an exellent album.

The Melvins and Nirvana were good frienRAB, they influenced each others work.

And yes, it is possible to influence a band that came before you.
