This is really cool, I'm looking forward to it. I wasn't around for the last list, so it will be nice to see how opinions have changed on the forums.

By the way, how was The Crow so high on the list the first time and Mystic River not even on the list?

You obviously see no point in it yourself.

I'm at the tender, young age of 18. Schindler's List is 17. That's hardly an "acknowldged great", and it basically isn't. The subject matter forces people to consider it better than others, but even this I claim they botched horribly. There's still a good deal of debate about the film among academic circles and this vulgar concept of dramatic Holocaust films in general.

So far, I haven't seen one film I protest to being "so low". I'd rather see many of these films wiped from the list in general, but this is not some kind of definitive list.

Actually, I see that you're just trying to be an analytical statistician, so continue!

Hey Badger, how did you determine ranking when both movies were tied in points?

I agree, there are a few that wouldn't even make my Top 100. But how can you not protest to Raging Bull being so low?! That's one of the greatest movies of all time. It has withstood the test of time, features one of the greatest performances in acting history, and is generally accepted as one of the greatest films of all time.

American Beauty is #5 on my list and is the only one represented on the list so far, but there are other good movies I have seen that are on your list.

This is indeed very cool, and I like the suspense! Take your time with it, by all means.

I also agree completely that it's going to be maddening seeing some of these. But that's how it goes. It's a living document, no doubt, and we've gotta start somewhere.

88. American Beauty (1999, Mendes)

Total Points Earned: 36
Compared to Previous List: NEW

Seems like a ton of work. I thank you, Badger.

But already, the first 2 choices are quite disappoint.

I was actually wondering the same thing, Harry Lime. The list turned south in my opinion with the past two choices, but not every choice can be everyone's personal favorites. Love it though, WBadger!

Being John Malkovich has got to be one of the best films of ever. It has so much philosophical depth, it's insane. I absolutely love everything from Spike Jones... or should I say Kaufman. Both true living geniuses with unmistakable styles. Kaufman is the greater artist though, I would say.

What did you want to see there? I'm assuming that you're disapointed that they're on the list at all, yes?

There's some quality flicks so far. Some nice surprises, and some not so nice surprises.

Ah, another decent film. Still nothing that'd make my top 25, but then, I'm only expecting to see a few of those.

I've yet to see it... guess I need to move it up on my "to see" list...

As for The Crow... I voted for it... and would again.

List appearances.

If the points and the appearances are the same, I have just been posting them as they show up on the Excel document. For example, Million Dollar Baby had the most list appearances of the other films with 34 points.

Photo edited.

Absolutely, Magnolia is a must. P. T. Anderson has yet to make a film that is not hugely, hugely successful. Probably one of the more talent living filmmaker's out there.

Okay sure. I shoulda scrolled back a little before I went all outrage on yall. And Being John Malkovich too.
