The Lovely Bones

The film comes out in a few weeks on June 28th both on DVD and BR.

I was looking to see what the extras were and was surprsied that there don#t appear tp be any on the DVD. I looked on both Amazon (UK) and on Play.com and neither have any extras for the DVD.

The BR though does have extras. Amazon doesn't say what they are but Play.com says it's an Immersive 15-week diary segments hosted by Peter Jackson and Philippa Boyens.

That doesn't seem very much especially when you consider that unlike the DVD which is on a single disc, the BR is a double disc. Niether site says if that is an BR and DVD copy or what the second disc is.
I did have a look around and managed to find the US release was an "Special Edition" and had as an extra.

Bonus materials are presented on a second disc in 1080i Hi-Def (HD) video with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound.

Considering the work he put into adapting lord of the rings i don't think we have anything to fear :)

i do hope the ending is changed & i think you know what i am referring to ;)

also mark whalberg ewwwwwwwwwww

There's a great quality screener all over the torrent and NZB sites.

Screeners always appear at this time of the year as they're sent out to people to consider for the Oscars or Golden Globes.
"Brothers" and "An education" are also available and I'm sure there are others I've forgotten about that have leaked in the last week or so.

Despite the bad reviews elsewhere !The Sunday Mirror last sunday made it there "film of the week " and gave it 4/5 rating !...the main annoyance for me is why Soarise Ronan got ignored for the oscars for this film !

Finally got to see this yesterday, and while my expectations were not that high based on reviews, I had an open mind and was looking forward to it.

To be honest I thought Peter Jackson did a terrible job.
You get very little emotion, and the CGI was tacky and half the time completely unnecessary, he used it to drill home a point, as if the audience were completely stupid. And it looked so cheap.

The overuse of CGI actually killed any momentum from the rest of the film, the whole thing felt disjointed and uneven. Stanley Tucci and the sister were fantastic, and I loved the 70s styling of the film, but I felt overall he missed the feeling of the book completely. I'd give it 2.5/5 very disappointing.

I disagree with you on Susan Saradons part i thought she was spot on with the charactor she portrays in the book! Mind i agree with you on the cuts as its unusual for Peter Jackson to shorten the film this much (unlike he did the LOTR films ) Perhaps the scenes cut would have pushed the film into a 15 certificate section ( mind in places i feel its a 15 anyway) he seems to have been over cautious in that respect ,and agree that Rachael Weisz is hardly in it .but i disagree on the cgis i think they work well and wouldnt have shortened them just lengthened the film to portray more of the familys story, hes just been over cautious perhaps under pressure from Paramount to keep the film under the constraints of a 12a certificate which the book never was!

Just got back from watching it (i've never read the book), and i really enjoyed it, although i'm not sure "enjoy" is the right word to use for a film about child rape/murder!

It was a well told story with some very good acting. I did feel that the more understated "inbetween" sections where Susie was in the endless corn field/disturbing forest worked more than the OTT "running on a giant grass ball" sequences though, so i guess i understand where some reviewers are coming from when they say that Peter Jackson went a bit overboard on the effects. The whole thing did look absolutely stunning though.

Overall, i'd give it 8.5/10, maybe even a 9/10.

I don't think the film should have been a 12A though, the subject matter itself i feel is a bit too much for anyone under 15, and it did have some pretty gruesome scenes in it. I can't honestly see anyone 12 or under wanting to see it to be fair, it's hardly a film for kiRAB.

The reviews on u tube from people who have seen TLB film at cinemas and online are 99% positive .the positive reviews are like "brilliant " "awesome" and "5 stars" but as films are personal..these are peoples opinions.. i think the book is brilliant it just was something differant and touched me in so many ways and i feel ill like the film very much! again if one doesnt expect the same adaptation as the book , as Peter Jackson said the film an interpretation of the book ...cant wait till feb 19th!...its out mainstream in usa tommorrow ..itll be interesting seeing the reviews of ordanary punters...dissapointed despite the film getting 11 nominations in the British Academy AwarRAB long list (more than any other film!)..it hasnt been nominated for best picture...as the saying goes everyone is untitled to there view !

Apart from the Saradons and Weitzs charactors being uncut (aswell as the affair)id have put the memorial ,the scene of the aniversary of Susies death with the candles, ruth and rays story and most important LinRABays and hals Story , and the the charm being found , as ive said previously hopefully Paramount will release more material with the dvd release but i still enjoyed the film a lot and think Peter Jackson did a good job...but these are opinons and PJ had his ...films are very personal !...and as always the book is better than an adapted film anyway!

Gonna see this on monday looking forward to seeing it ...been reading alot of the british punters who have seen it today (the usa one s go over the top ) and virtually all give it a brilliant review ..but have said its very emotional!!!ive always thought that it should have been certificated a 15 and perhaps shown another 20 minutes to show some of the deleted scenes peter jackson has omited in his cut!..and like you say the heaven scenes should have been cut to include more of the book content but ill review it in its own right having loved the book!

Okay so I watched it :) and thought it was very good. I didn't like the book because it started out promising but just went on forever without any resolution but the film is a great adaptation and condenses everything I found boring about the book. It was very artistic and I liked the subtle hints that it gives throughout. Also did anyone else notice the Peter Jackson cameo or am I just seeing things?

Overall good film, will definitely be seeing it at the cinema when it comes out.

Mark Whalberg's casting is the only thing causing me genuine concern. I have no issues with him on a professional level but he is absolutely nothing like how I imagined Jack Salmon. I think they had a really hard time casting that character though since someone else was to play it originally before they brought Whalberg on board.

I enjoyed this film a lot....

I was not interested too much in the inbetween but more in what was going to happen to the paedophile in the story...

Great performances from Stanley Tucci and Soarise Ronan....

Hannah;40775616']I'm not bothered that it was a 12 actually because I felt that nothing violent needed to be included, so Peter got that right, however the computer effects made the rest of the film look so bad, he could have made it look a bit more realistic at least. 12 rating doesn't mean it's for children specifically however it did seem that with the computer graphics he did try to engage with people of that age range.. shame really.

Jackson has stated he wanted to make it a film his daughter could see. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some constraints from the studio too, though. I think most of us who'd read the book always knew there was going to be major changes, otherwise the movie would have been an 18. I just think some of those changes could have been handled better.

I loved the book and i am looking forward to this film so much despite the critisism of it as often badly reviewed films are well received from the public! ..very dissapointed Soairse Ronan hasnt been nominated for a Golden Globe but pleased Stanley Tucci has for best supporting actor! ...ive a feeling this film will do well at the box office world wide!...cant wait!

I don't get it. She got away....how does the rest of the film pan out then? did they just not show the rape & murder...she "gets away" and is in heaven because she died?
