The legend of Dunk Mask - Basquash! Talkback (Spoilers)

Just marathoned the first 3 eps:

ZOMG that was teh awesome!!!!

*slaps self*
Seriously, this show really wows me. Its out there in plot and has an interesting cast of characters. Can't wait to see where they take this.

So apparantly, this is the true version of "nO limiT"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WOVzmRvOKc

This is much better than the first one which was a bunch of images from the show.

And once again, it seems like everybody's life sucks in this one considering all the sad scenes of the main characters (The part where it shows them all crying really got me)

I like the new animation on the opening.

And just when you think this show couldn't get more blatant Big Miss Lunar Gravity is a foot fetishist that practically paizuris Dan's foot and the giant Nikes come enter the show proper.

It's official. This show doesn't know what they want to do. I mean three episodes in and we get a new opening. I don't get it. The show should've at least waited until we get to the middle of the series to add it since there are still some new characters we haven't met yet such as some kid in a hat. He was in the ending theme sequence..I hope that the show isn't changing the ending this fast as well...so why is it taking so long to bring him out in the forefront.

The rule should be this: Never change openings/endings unless you're gonna add new characters and had already introduced them to the audience. With this sudden change, I'm guessing that the nuraber of openings will be around 5-6 at the most with the nuraber of endings will be around 3.

Wrong. The reason the opening changed was because Satelight had not finished animating the opening sequence before episode 4. Thomas Romain had mentioned they only started the animation process for the introduction around mid-March (which they had just completed the storyboarRAB for the op/ed). Unfortunately, they weren't able to finish the opening animation in time for broadcast, so they put something temporary until it was completed.

This is not surprising in the very least, given how much time they had to complete the introduction. Also, this was mentioned a couple days ago over at CATSUKA by Thomas. There will be apparently one last revision to the opening sequence and we should see it in the next episode. What else will be added or "fixed up", I guess we'll see in this week's episode.

The opening was fine as it was. If the only option was to use clips from a couple of episodes then so be it. That's what we get in most anime openings that are dubbed for TV especially to get the kiRAB in watching the show. There's no excuse as the whole "we didn't have time to finish completing the opening" shouldn't count as a reason on why we had the opening that was given to us three episodes ago.

If the show didn't have time to complete the intro, they should've waited until it was finished to release the entire show with no changes to be made. That's the one thing I don't like about people especially Mr. Romain's explanation of the certain opening change: excuses.

I thought you was talking about the Lunar Bust woman who rather love feet than a guy's face when meeting him for the first time.

For Platinum or should I call Sela Miranda, she pretty much loves everything about the sport of basketball. It's like if you was playing another sport with her, unless it was driving up her adrenaline and pushed her to the edge where even though she would never give in, she would still get aroused when it comes to the physical play that's all.

No, it wasn't an excuse. Thomas Romain posted around mid-March (around the 17th or so) over at CATSUKA that they had only just started animating the opening and ending, since that was when they finished storyboarding. It wasn't an excuse made up later. If you want, I can get you the post in question, since it should still be there.

The problem is that the opening and ending themes generally aren't decided at the start of production. They usually are decided later on in the project. Unfortunately, the animation process for the intro and outro didn't start until very late and near air date. Whether or not it was because of a late decision for the intro and outro, I'm uncertain. However, this process is not restricted to just Basquash! and alot of opening and endings for various anime in Japan suffer from this problem. Usually it could be anywhere from using incomplete animation or using episode clips temporary.

And unfortunately, they could not delay production just so that the introduction was finished. They have a set time frame that they must follow or else they won't get the air time. Unfortunately, this also causes problems such as incomplete animation for broadcast. Most animation being produced in Japan is done as it airs, because of the limited timeframe they generally have to work on the animation before broadcast. Some shows can have a wider timeframe before airdate and allow for more episodes to be completed before this time frame, but Basquash! isn't one of them.

It's not an excuse. Whether you wish to believe that or not, is really up to you. The way Japan's animation system works is different than most countries.

I saw the first episode a while ago and my brother showed me the second one last weekend.

I gotta admit, it really stanRAB out from a lot of other japanese shows, probably because the directer had worked on Code Lyoko and Oban Star Racers if I remeraber correctly. The whole show just oozes with attitude and coolness, and I'm not even a fan of big mecha shows.

They really need to tone down the fanservice though or maybe I should stop watching it around my family.

Well episode 5 was just amazing. It started out kind of slow but once we got to the actual game, I was literally on the edge of my seat just watching the awesomness unfold.

Also, it seems the credits evolved again. Not by much but they did add and change a few things. (Looks like we've got s-CRY-ed credits people)

Also, don't tell me I was the only one thinking "G Gundam" when you saw how the controls worked.

(NIKE SUPPORTS THE BFB!)

Yeah, but Zetsubou-sensei had the advantage of Ootsuki's music. No Limit is okay, but typical as far as anime opening music is concerned. The style of the animation in general kind of saves the opening for me. The multiple openings might not be as justified, at least in my opinion. I hope they at least change the music up at the half way point.

The fanservice in this series is ridiculous, and it's definitely going to start getting in the way soon. The most recent episode kicked it up WAY too many notches, making Haruka's boobs more of an interference than anything else. The sexual innuendos come second on the list, especially all of Sela's "genes" talk, which is just plain unnecessary.

Hopefully, the future episode will downplay these things in favor of the awesome style, cool characters, and crazy robots playing basketball. This show most definitely has potential.

Heh, this part made me laugh a lot

The funny thing about that is that it was done on purpose

I'm glad to see Dan actually thinking though. The rebound throw was freakin' awesome.

Nice av Vyse!

Not only that, but on KADOKAWAanime's YouTube page, where they're streaming the first two episodes (unsubbed) for Golden Week, Episode 2's clip show intro has been purged from existence and replaced with the new intro.
