The all time best horror movie

Original or remake? I saw the original and still have the odd nightmare about that film. Suffice it to say I didn't go and see the remake ;)
 
I don't think it counts as a horror film, but Terminator really freaks me out. I just don't like the fact that he keeps on going, and can't be stopped...

Proper horror films don't really scare me on the whole, but there are bits in them that I really don't like - the twins in The Shining; the hypnotist bit in The Exorcist (I hate it when people speak in voices that aren't theirs) and films where things move by themselves (apart from in the Poltergeist ones, cause they're just funny!)
 
Yes, I heard. I'm open minded on this, in a suicidal type way - got the bomb made up, but not sure if I should press the button now or in an hour or so.

Nick has had good days on set (The Rock) as well as bad, like Edward (The Enforcer ?), but the joke about D's in a name falls flat with Mr Cage.
 
Here are some of mine, in no order...

Rosemarys Baby- plain disturbing
Nightmare on Elmstreet 1- the fact that you dont see Freddie makes it that bit better
Halloween- great direction to make a daytime scene Scary, thats summit.
The Omen- Classic!
The Blair Witch Project- I think this was a fantastic idea, maybe was a rip off of "the last broadcast" but it still stanRAB.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre- Chilling beyond belief, only been able to watch that once.

And maybe the best.. Jacobs Ladder. This is the only film i had to turn off cause it got too much, the scene where Dr Carlsons gf is dancing with the devils tail between her legs, the VHS tape stopped many yrs ago for the one.

I was massively dissapointed in "The last house on the left" didnt rate that atall. "Dog Soldiers" i thought was incredibly effective, although it did go a little of the track towarRAB the end, but i thought it held it quite well.

plus... The Exorcist, The Shining and even the first part in the Stephen King made for TV "it" thought that was quite good.

and thats just the Western ones, a lot from Asia and East Europe are now on the list.

For some reason I really enjoy the Scary Movie sendups, all taking on their own versions of the few 'serious' releases at the time , but then most are tongue in cheek to start with ( who would believe Dr Phibes as anything but comedy?)
 
I really hated the remake of Dawn of the Dead..just horrible IMO....

RocketRonnie~ I remember a long time ago when i was younger, my mom mentioned the LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT and she said it gave her nightmares...She was terrified of it I think and said it was gross. I have never seen it though....

Personally, there are just too many for me to mention, but of the top of my head...

As you can see I'm more a fan of what many would term "Classic Horror" and im my humble opinion the above titles are among the best of the genre... :)

It's not that I'm opposed to "Modern Horror" but for me personally I have never actually thought much of films such as "Scream", "I Know What You Did Last Summer", "Urban Legend" etc. However there have been some, again in my humble opinion, very good ones...

Haute Tension (Switchblade Romance)
Dog Soldiers
The Blair Witch Project

Spring to mind as examples of them for me. But ultimately, as always, it all comes down to personal taste and opinion :)
