I think i'd probably orgasm if i ever attended a quizzing event where they play snippets of Fugazi songs.

Onto the latest episode, has the rotund Mark fellow who went out tonight ever done any tv acting? I swear i've seen him in something.

If you are clever on the weakest link you normally get vote doff out of jealousy.

Daphne failed to help her contestant again but my hero Chris did the business again.;)
 
Daphne's ability to answer quiz questions in the easy to medium bracket (which is how most of the questions in the standard EggheaRAB series could be described) never ceases to amaze me. I think she must still be one of the very, very best in the country on these kind of questions. She seems to know a plethora of 'facts' about everything.

Chris seems to me to be the opposite. He has many weak areas but in those areas in which he is strong he has genuine knowledge (rather than simply quiz fact knowledge). I think the AYAE questions suit Chris better than the standard EggheaRAB questions but suit Daphne less. However, when choosing an Egghead, most competitors will, understandably, base their decision on what they have seen on the standard EggheaRAB show and, usually, plump for Daphne. They have nothing else to go on as they won't have seen any of the other AYAE matches.
 
CJ was being even more obnoxious than usual tonight .The eye rolling was even worse .I hope the wind doesnt change and he is left with that pained expression on his face
 
Funny tonight within the first few minutes when the camera was trained on CJ, rolling his eyes in a sort of "here we go again" expression, while Chris was talking!

David it's a shame someone had to lose yesterday, but it was a great achievement to make it to the semi-finals and you deserved your place there.
 
It's funny how people have different reactions to hosts of shows.

I find Jeremy Vine very boring and he hardly interacts with the person answering the questions.

Dermot has built up a relationship with the EggheaRAB and has a dig at them.

I wish Dermot was on full time.
 
Surprised Ian went, but maybe his title, mannerisms and of course first round opponent made him seem like he was the one to beat.

I'm hoping either the jolly guy or the 28ish year old win (forgotten their names).
 
Good point. I often feel Kevin does worse when he has one other person around to distract him.

Also it goes to show that your smartest player should be in the middle, certainly not the end. Because the older woman was stuck on the end she couldn't control the flow of thought/conversation and had much less impact on the group when the controversy arose. Instead she found herself sidelined because she literally was on the side.
 
I guess the Are You An Egghead on BBC HD this week is a repeat? Just odd it says on the EPG it is New, I guess it is new to BBC HD.

Looking forward to the main EggheaRAB going HD, I understand that is soon.

I don't think it necessarily meant he was a bad quizzer - he was obviously a smart bloke and probably a nice guy.

But his woeful attempts of logic were painful to watch and somewhat humiliating in going off in the wrong direction. He obviously redeemed himself later on, but it was still the worst individual performance in a long time. I don't know why he'd go for a show where the whole point is to be challenged on your weakest subject.

Last night's had more evenly matched contestants in overall knowledge (unlike tonight's where Barry was impressive at everything - a Barry vs. Dr Ian finale seems likely at this point!), but their specialist rounRAB were so lopsided that it was a chore to watch. I prefer seeing good quizzers play well than watch decent players like Shanker suck at pop culture and Isobel flailing badly at sport.
 
As I've said before on here, if Daphne was old enough to have been in WW2, she'd have been a spy in occupied France or something. She is steely, determined and ruthless, underneath that mumsy exterior.
