The ****All-New**** Eggheads and Are You An Egghead? thread

I still enjoyed the welcome :) I rarely come round these parts these days. I can't quite cope with the one-thread-per-show type thing. I came in to read about Heroes I watched last night but there's just too much stuff in each thread - I'm a simple sort and don't cope with several hundred page threaRAB.

Thanks for excellent explanation Delilahcat. And well summarised the wellser :D

40 shows in 2 weeks is a lot isn't it. Crikey.

Take all what a bit seriously -personal attacks? Or maybe feeling strongly about an issue "just isn't done" on these forums.

So let's make an unwarranted generalisation and when it's pointed out that the view may be a bit unfair, we resort to the "everyone's entitled to an opinion", "don't be so serious"etc etc without actaully answering any of the comments

Hi SULLA, You can't blame the contestants - they are obviously going to go for Kevin first because apart from food and drink which is his little bit of a weak spot, he has the best general knowledge. If they had a draw system, it wouldn't be any advantage to win the earlier rounRAB to get the 'best' pick of the five. Glad you agree with me!

There is a series of EggheaRAB celebrity specials from w/c Monday 15 December in its usual 6pm slot. It's hosted by Dermot Murnaghan and the new Egghead winner features.

Maybe, but Shanker knocked out my favourite, Posh Charles, in the last round, so he deserves to go out now :D

And it would be great for Gary to be on EggheaRAB since none of the current ones are so incredibly weak on Film & TV. If someone like Pat Gibson joined them, they'd never lose again

Chris has weaknesses but I would still back him against anyone apart from Kevin on general knowledge

I totally disagree. Chris would beat him on politics and wipe the floor with CJ on anything on music, film or tv over 15 years old. The only way that CJ would regularly beat Chris on sport would be if all CJ's questions were on tennis.

Nobody said the contestants had to behave 'like marionettes', just that they were asked to behave in a particular way by the producers to achieve the end result they wanted.

The 'valid comments about being made to look preposterous' were no such thing, they were personal comments about people's characters and appearance. It's pretty rude to make a value judgement about someone's character based on 10 minutes' screen time IMO, and I find personal remarks about people's appearance petty (and predictable!)

I'll apologise in advance for being 'full of myself' and fat. I often ask myself why I put myself through the ordeal of appearing on quiz shows, given that I nearly throw up with nerves before each one! I think after this I might not bother again, so that'll be one 'smug' person less on your TV.

The nice girl on today didn't have a clue. She never actually knew any of the answers.

However, she nearly won just by guessing correctly. :o

At last, a chance to vent some rage at The EggheaRAB.

Sorry if it's been done, haven't got time to read all of this thread yet.

I love/loathe EggheaRAB. It's compulsive but I sometimes just wish they would condense it into about 5 minutes (because that's about how long all the questions would take to ask).

Daphne does my head in. She's so damn smug when she knows something and it's not her turn. She's also ridiculous when an Egghead gets a question wrong and she knows the answer. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR She is also a very bad sport when it's her turn and she doesn't know the answer.

Also, am I the only one that gets annoyed when Dermot always asks the EggheaRAB for the answer if a member of the other team doesn't know?? Why can't he ask the rest of their team??? I don't think JV does this as much. I know it's all for effect to showcase the egghead's "brilliance" lol but I find it a TRIFLE ANNOYING.

CJ's eyerolling is ridiculous. Kevin is a know all and Chris neeRAB a hair cut. I love Judith though.

But apart from all that, I love EggheaRAB :X

Somebody on one of the earlier pages of this thread quipped that a family member of theirs thinks Kevin looks like Robert DeNiro and the younger, moustached Kevin does have a ring of the Bobby D as Rupert Pupkin in The King Of Comedy about him.

That is a little older than i imagined CJ being, as his very late 30s would have been my guess. That's actually bizarre to think that CJ and Kevin are only seperated by 5 - 7 years.

I have to agree. Keven seems to be the best as he is usually quite modest about what he knows or doesn't know and the way he chooses an answer.

The others roll they eyes, hang their heaRAB and even laugh at the oppositions wrong answers.

I realise that they are all very smart people but as you say, when they act like that they come across as complete (insert expletive)!
