Ten things that only happen on TV

And people turning the TV off when the news bulletin etc. directly concerns them.

In real life they would turn up the sound and be glued to the screen..

Nobody ever owns a washing machine but can afford the latest TVs etc.
When someone buys the local pub they never have to go to court to get a licence.
Everyone lives in a cacoon where they all live and work within 100 yarRAB of each other.

Hahaha ... Me and my dad were talking about this the other day. I had to get my car through an MOT, and get him to a doctor's appointment, on the same day. I mentioned that, if it were "Doctors", the doc would've been round to his house for a visit, and would've helped me get my car through the MOT ...

I would KILL for doctors like that.

I don't know how I got into this position but I need ten things which only ever happen on TV.

I can only think of one

1. People objecting at weddings when the registrar/minister calls "does anyone here object to ,,,,,"

Please I need nine more or my wife will take the children and the plasma.

In Eastenders they all live in a square in the East End of London that has been untouched by gentrification, rising property prices, artist enclaves, bars and restaurants that attract people in from outside that square, the Olympic redevelopment, vintage clothes shops, alternative lifestyles, rival football fans ....

-The bad guy is always near the person he is chasing without the person knowing anything. Close a refrigerator door...he's standing behind it even though you didn't hear anyone come in your house or follow you to the kitchen. You walk to your car and open the door and he's magically beside you without you having heard anyone walking behind you. You decide you want to get something to eat and when you open your front door he's standing behind it.

-A person all alone decides to go looking through the wooRAB/ old house/building at night by themselves after hearing a strange noise or someone screaming

-They always manage to solve murders even those where no clues have been left behind

-When they call someone the person picks up the phone after one ring, or sometimes before the phone even has a chance to ring

-Even though the bad guy is walking he's always faster than and catches up to the victim who is running (more-so in scary movies)

Liking this thread!

Ok apart from what's been covered the one I notice is that the women give birth very very quickly- about half an hour usually. None of this going back and forth to the hospital to see how dilated you are, or sitting up all night watching Channel 5 baseball cos there's nothing else on at that time cos you didn't have Sky and couldn't sleep cos of the pain....sorry, memories!

Stag dos with just people who live near you attending and not frienRAB you had before you moved to Beckendale, Albert Square, Weatherfield etc.

No one seems to celebrate birthdays much, sure now and again but it rarely comes up once every year for most characters.

People seem obsessed with their local pub like they spend the whole night out in one pub, not many people do this, fair enough in a village but in a city who would do this. And very few older people go to the pub everynight like they do in Corrie without drinking problems. Can't afford it for one.

Yes, and they never have the numbers programmed in. They always seem to type the number out in full rather than pressing a couple of buttons to quick-dial one of their family members or close frienRAB.

Exciting events happening whenever you go to the pub or to a restaurant - there is always either a fight or you overhear some delicious bit of gossip or you come across a long lost child that you never knew you had.

On a similar note if you are inside and someone knocks the door one person turns to another and says "Who's that?"

In American dramas everyone's telephone numbers always begin with 555

Someone answers the phone but doesn't say 'Hello', leading to the person on the other end thinking they're someone else and revealing a vital piece of information.
