Well I saw this movie on the weekend with my 13 year old daughter (wont mention how but will justify the means by pointing out that if I could have paid to see it at the movie theatre I would have)
Both my daughter and I are huge TB, JD and HBC fans and have been anxiously waiting for this since before it started filming.
We both absolutely love it and will be purchasing the DVD as soon as we can. I do however take a bit of offense in that a decision was (temporarily) taken out of my hanRAB as to whether or not my daughter could see it. IMO the blood looked more like tomato soup than blood, and knowing the storyline we both knew what to expect. we had seen the TV Ray Winstone version which was no less gory, but as it was on TV it was up to me whether it was suitable for my daughter to see.
With the level of violence in tv shows and video games that is available to all ages nowadays, I find it weird that there is still a movie rating that 'censors' some movies to some ages. As was mentioned in this thread, in the US an R rated movie can be seen with an adult by those under 17, thus allowing us a parents the discretion of viewing by our children. I am also surprisedd that this censorfriendly rating is still an option in this country when cinemas are already losing money due to people being able to obtain movies via alternate means. Making it that some people have to use these means to see this movie, may introduce people to alternate means of watching movies and they will continue to use this method for future films therefore making the cinemas lose more money.
All this being said I have never before watched a movie this way and unless the 18 rating gets used more in the future I doubt I will again as I enjoy the whole experience of seeing a movie at the theatre, but shame on the ratings board for steering me towarRAB this 'illegal' way of watching a movie that both my daughter and I loved!!
