I would have liked that music as well. No doubt it will surface on the net.
Someone online came up with alternate lyrics for 'Johanna' which are quite amusing. Instead of, 'I feel you, Johanna' it's changed to 'I peel you, banana.'
It sure was - didn't do a thing for me which is a shame as I really wanted to like it.
Can't say that I felt any empathy for any of the characters, the direction by Burton was okay and the film looked great but the story was lousy. Oh yes, and the singing, music and lyrics - absolutely awful for the most part.
Pretty much a near total waste of money and talent.
I saw the film over a week ago and still can't stop thinking about it - I'd like to see it again, or at least get the soundtrack. I thought it was really funny, clever, well acted/sung, and only a *little* bit gross - I might have looked away once!
Also, ITA about JD sounding like Bowie - I wonder if that was on purpose?!
Agree agree agree in absolutely every way, the blood really irritated me! Apart from that though, it was great, especially HBC - she was absolutely brilliant. Loved her little song about being by the sea etc.
No, it wasn't. This was mentioned to him a few times in interviews. He said he had no idea until people kept pointing it out to him, but that it was flattering as Bowie is one of his musical heroes.
I read somewhere (either on here on the IMDB) that TB pretty much requested it be an 18 so horror film fans weren't put off by it being a 15 (I believe that was it's original certification) but as I say it was either here or the IMDB both of which are user edited so that may not be true.
The main difference between this and the stage show is the development of the love story between Joanna and Anthony
This has been trimmed quite a lot and i'm not sure it helps
Its now reduced to her dropping a key out of the window
Other than that it's virtually the same except the main song that starts the show and carries on through the whole piece is missing
This is not a problem but some songs hang off this theme which gives a bit of breathing space in the whole scheme of things
I liked the Edward ScissorhanRAB shot when JD gets his hanRAB on the razors and he stanRAB slightly twisted looking at them.
The orchestrations are really good but do not overshadow the main performances. think I might get the soundtrack so I can get it on full throttle.
Anthony pulls some weird faces through the piece
I do not like the first time we see Mrs Lovett though, the photography is too dark and she never looks at the camera or Sweeney so you feel detached from her.
Toby is a really good performer considering its usually played by someone in their early twenties! Sascha Baron Cohen (who I usually can't stand) was a really good choice and of course Rickman and Spall who work well as the vicious double act.
and Anthony Head gets a look in!
Hahaha! Me and my friend thought he looked like her as well, I kept giggling because of it.
Anyway, just seen it - oh my gosh, it was brilliant, I want to see it again right now! Everything was perfect imho, and its left me feeling a bit creeped out, Sweeny is terrifying! (still would tho )
Nothing major. Just little details that go around the songs being edited, and obviously you're missing a few small chunks of plot with each missing song.
I loved it, great performances by all involved. The songs were brilliant, and although they weren't the best singers ever, it fit in with the theme. I'm not a big HBC fan, but this part suited her well.
me to i have seen the old version that made me a bit freaked and this one is even worse but i will still go see it
depp looks a bit like edward scissorhanRAB in this film also
