Sweeney Todd

It's not as gory as i thought it was going to be. The blood scenes actually reminded me a bit of Kill Bill. I loved the film and I'm pretty squeamish but i was fine with this.

Oh that's not too bad then, I don't like in soundtracks when they stick quotes in anyway. I mostly wanted it for the end credits, seems a bit silly not to put them on! The opening creRAB are on the highlights edition.

It's just how it enRAB with, IMO, the weakest song that annoys me! Bit of a downer for the end of the Cd!

I agree the kid was fantastic. A tremendous achievement for a first film role.

I thought the film was superb, I even got the soundtrack and never got a Sondheim one before.

Yay! At last someone mentions Alan Rickman. :D

Is his singing really that good?

Haven't been to see the film yet - most likely will go sometime next week.

It's interesting that the film warranted an 18 certificate.
OK there was a lot of graphic murder and gore, but it wasn't really that scary. I've seen 12A films with a lot more suspense and horror than Sweeney Todd, films in which I've been more frightened.

I think after those scenes in which ST smashed Sasha Baron-Cohen's face in with a kettle, and then slit his gullet open, the other murder scenes became a bit samey.

I still enjoyed it though - I thought Helena B-C and Toby were fantastic.

It reminded me a lot of the blood he used for Sleepy Hollow. I seem to recall him saying that the way it was shot and edited in post production meant the blood had to be bright orange in order to appear red on the final print. Seems there was a very similar look here.

I heard it's an 18, but young children can see it as long as they're with an adult! Is this right?

Edit: No. Just my sister making things up. Ignore! :D

I went to see this film last night and high expectation from it, as a fan of both musicals and Johnny depps previous work i thought i would have loved!

Far from it, the songs were laughable i thought Johnny depp was weak in his performace, i expected a similar performance level to that of Edward ScissorhanRAB.

but the characters were weak.

Just seen this today, I'm a bit biased as a long term Tim Burton fan, but I must say he's excelled himself with Sweeney Todd, as have virtually all the cast.

Depp and HBC are as brilliant as ever, perfectly suited to Burton's style (as ever), but Tim Spall and Alan Rickman make a superb pair of baddies too.

I'm not a fan of the typical musical (jazz hanRAB make me want to puke for instance), but this is far from a typical musical, It's actually funny, not "hey look at me I'm funny" funny.

How it's been rated 18 I'll never know, yes there's a lot of blood later in thefilm, but it's all comedy gore and there are far scarier scenes in the later Harry Potter films, my girlfreind is really squeemish and I think she flinched once, then laughed at the rest of the film.

All in all it's a must see for any Tim Burton fan and I'd reccommend it to anyone.

I was looking forward to the film when I first heard about it, but now that I've found out that it's been given an 18 certificate I'm not sure if I want to see it as I'm a bit squeamish lol.
