Sweeney Todd

Alan Rickman and Johnny Depp not only in the same film but SINGING! What's not to love?? I love it so much. I was too hungover to go again today, going on Wednesday night instead! It's jetted right into my all time top 10.

If you enjoyed the music so much, you should try the New York Philharmonic concert version cd of this with Patti Lupone. There's lots of wonderful music that got cut from the movie.

Gotta say, Burton & Depp have kissed a lot of potential BO away with that 18 rating. But I am glad it's rated what it is anyway.

Saw it today. Fab. Very dark, but funny. It's a black comedy really and you need to approach it as that.

She actually had more vocal training than the majority of them.

No thoughts on the young boy Toby? For a 14 year-old in his 1st film I thought he showed great promise. Good voice.

A friend of mine can be a bit squeamish but she's okay with two other Depp films with lots of violence - namely Sleepy Hollow and From Hell - how does the gore compare to those two?

I can't say gore bothers me all that much but she'd like to go in 'prepared' so to speak :D

This is true he wanted the film to be seen as a horror film so was not interested in cutting the film so the "gore" would not be lingered upon. If they want a film to come into the bracket they will re edit to fit the criteria by showing the back of the head so not showing the throat actually being cut or cutting to the face of the attacker, or even to a shot of the window with rain pouring down etc etc

Googleking, I think the "baffled" bit you are referring to is when he bites into the pie, and when Edward tries lemonade for the first time, no? I thought the same thing!

I can't help but notice that a lot of people gushing about this (in this forum and elsewhere) are female. Not all, but certainly more than 50%.

Does the film perhaps 'connect' more with females than males for some reason? Is there some sexual chemistry at work here?

Are there any psychologists in the house? :)

Saw it today- am not the biggest fan of horror films but the trailers had me intrigued and my frienRAB wanted to see it as they are big Johnny Depp fans so decided to give it a go. Have to say I thought it was excellent! Incredibly gory but brilliantly done! Was very impressed and pleasantly suprised!

I watched this on Saturday, loved it! Why is it an 18? I mean the blood isn't meant to look like blood... and there are worse things on 15 rated movies than cut throats. But anyway.

I loved 'By the Sea': all the happy little scenarios of a perfect life and Sweeney's face stays exactly the same:D And his curt nod at the wedding:p:D:D
