Superchannel Pricing?

Saw 3 was on as was Rocky Balboa. Other then that, definitely not worth that. They should be included for free with Movie Channel package for Bell to stay on top of competition.

I'm still switching at end of contract because Bell isn't doing anything about FTA pirates who are getting everything for free.
 
The big problem for these guys is they got suckered into having to to make massive payments to the Canadian production industry in order to win the bid with the CRTC. Unless the CRTC looks at the next application as a need to add competition to the Canadian industry rather than another chance for a stick up there will never be a competitive national movie channel.

I think a BD player is a better use of my money.
 
I subscribed to the SuperChannel. I know $16 is a little high to subscribe to this premium service but I subscribed to watch my favourite show Passions. The way I look at it is people in the USA have to pay $19.95 just to watch Passions online, SuperChannel has it and although their movies are not the greatest hits they have some good series that look interesting so $16 is ok with me considering we are really no different from the USA subscribers of Passions. At least we aren't only receiving that one show for that price. I got it for $13 as well cause I have 6 theme packs, I used to pay $5 for the super stations as well.
 
Let's see if I got this straight:

On it's own = 16$ (includes socalled superstations...ain't nothing super about them IMO because none of them are HD and they all show horribly edited tv movies).

If you sub to 5 or more theme packs = 13$

If you have 5 or more theme packs + allready sub to the superstations + also sub to TMN = you get no additional discount? That just sounds wrong to me.

If they were to give half off and charge only 6.50$ for people that allready sub to the superstations + have TMN + sub to more then 5 theme packs, it would make more sense.

6.50$ for 6 channels, 2 of them HD might be worth it down the road once they get more content (i'm sure we will all PVR the heck out of the movies we want to see before the Nov 23rd free preview ends).

At between 5$ - 6.50$/month, maybe six months down the road, I might consider it. At 13$ it just ai'nt gonna happen. For 7$ more I can just rent a 9242 instead... oh wait... they still have not activated external USB storage and... oh wait... BEV's silly policy indicates that if you own your receivers, you can't start renting another one... I guess you can scratch both those ideas.
 
Evu site gives the pricing at $16 per month and also includes the so called superstations. Wonder what the price will be for those allready getting the superstations with the Movie Channel.
 
Welcome to the new millennium. Corporate greed and "screw the consumer" is the rule. It's about time for a new consumer movement. "Poison free products and services at a reasonable price" seems appropriate. I think it's time for consumers to take control back from large corporations and provide high quality goods and services locally. Maybe satellite is a bad example but local broadcasting isn't. After seeing this type of pricing for this type of programming, I have to wonder if I am a fool for paying for satellite TV while millions of others steal it. :confused:
 
Well, I don't need to see a free preview. I'm only interested in movies, and Super Channel doesn't have many. TMN and MC have the rights in Canada for most movie studios releases.
 
I subscribed to the Movie Network as well, so the SuperChannel is not all that bad if you have something like the Movie Network, it gives a bit of choice.
 
Are you sure you're not referring to the superstations? And is it November of this year or next year? :)
 
Agreed - I was looking forward through the guide for a movie I had even heard of,
and it was slim pickings. Most surprising.
 
So now that the free preview has started, does anyone get channels 1-3 in SD? In my guide they show up as red, not subscribed, but 4 is there and the HD channels are there.

I am not referring to the superstations as they are in the Movie Central package listed next to the super channel package. The Movie Central package is $19.95 and is the same as Bell's.

It's definitely November of this year. It's in the November edition of their magazine. There are 2 whole pages just talking about it. They are offering 2 months for the price of 1.
 
Has anyone ever received info from Superchannel after signing up for email releases etc. on their website. I did some time ago and have never received anything. Since they also have a contract with MGM would this be a backdoor means of getting the new MGMHD channel into Canada?
 
What I would see as logical for a provider to do is offer separate packages for TMN and Super Channel, or a offer a slightly cheaper bundle for both.
 
IMHO, that is way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, wa...ay too much. Count me 100% out. I'm not paying that much for the programming being offered. I might pay $6 without the US superstations.

IMHO, the US superstations should be unbundled from the movie channel packages as well. They were never intended to be a mandatory inclusion with the movie packages and are of little interest to many people. :mad:
 
Yep, only SC4 in the preview (and the two HD channels if you subscribe to the HD package).

follow up to my earlier posting.

I actually got a reply from superchannel to my enquiries and my rant. aside from being apologetic and promoing their wares, I was told that the providers
(satellite or cable) control the pricing. so bell offered the typical movie theme.
its the same as MC theme for western canada and the movie network for
eastern canada. but since most of the subscribers take one or the other, they could have offered out superchannel as an add on and attracted a lot more interest in it. so today is monday and I shall contact my provider to see if they are willing to make a deal.
 
There have been no communications about the pricing for Superchannel. None, whatsoever. When you call to speak to a CSR, they can tell you what the channel offerings are in terms of programming and what channel number they would be on (4 SD and 2 HD) but nothing about the price. Don't expect anything until right around the time when the channel package launches. Trust me, we all wish we knew the answer just as much as you guys do so that when you call and ask about these channels we'd be able to answer any other questions, but unfortunately Bell likes to be stingy with that kind of information before launching a channel. I personally am doubtful that they will offer a bundle discount.
