South Park - "201" - Talkback [4/21]

^
I think this best describes what is happening this very instant. And what will probably go on to describe the entire aftermath of 201's viewing.

Uh, but could this indicate that Muhammad was supposed to air uncensored at some point?

In some parallel universe there is a country full of christians threathen to bomb the creats of North Park for showing Jesus I just know it sorry weird thought but i cant see how showing a figure of some one can get so pissy people are overly sensitive but theres gonna be those kind of peoples

Comedy Central isn't going to drop of one of their biggest cash cows. South Park has made CC too much money and brought them too many viewers for them to even to even consider that.

CC will just do what they did: censor the bit and/or sweep the offending episodes under the rug.

Super awesome/shocking episode conclusion to the 2-parter,

The highlights:
Mitch's narration/war flashback was cool.
Mohammed's name being bleeped was funny, hahahaha.
Woow, it's Santa who's in the bear costume, nice cover-up.
Yaaaay, it's Mr.Hankey!!!!
Mecha Barbera Streisand attacking the city, cool.
The Super Best Friends riding on the scooters was silly, hehehe.
Nice to see Dr.Mephisto & Kevin.
African American Mitch was hilarious, hahahahaha:p:D!!!!!
So Dr.Mephisto is involved in the Eric's father plot too, niice.
Kevin the monkey actually made a noise, wooow.
Poor Pip to get killed off since he's my favorite minor character, but he'll brought back like Kenny & Rob Reiner though, hehehe.
The Legion Of Doom being Tom Cruise & the celebrities' hideout, sweet.
Kyle mentioning the elephant/pig love scene, I loved that episode.
Nice to see Tweek.
Super Best Friends vs. Mecha Barbera Streisand was pretty cool.
The boys wanting Dr.Mephisto to clone Mohammed, nice plan.
The boys breaking the 4th wall debating about whether people cared more about the Mohammed plot or Eric's father identity was great.
Moses mentioning the Seaman joke was funny.
Among the celebrities, nice to see Rod Stewart, David Blaine, Rob Schneider the giant carrot(hahahahaha, I thought he would be Kenny, hahahaha), Pope Benedict XVI, & Willaim A. Donahue(who's resurrected like Rob Reiner).
Wooow, Scott Tenorman is back who's the head ginger kid pulling a Joker along with The Killing Joke reference, awesome:eek::evil:!!!!!
Tom becoming Censored Mohammed was funny, hehehe.
Mr.Garrison & the others were protecting the Denver Broncos, neat.
The Super Best Friends vs. the celebrities/Ginger Kids was awesome!!!!!
WOOOOW, Jack Tenorman being Eric's father & a Denver Bronco really shocked/surprised me which both Eric & Scott are half brothers:eek::eek:, woooow, which Eric killed his own father, I didn't see that one coming!!!!!!
Yikes, while agreeing with Naruto D. Luffy, everything has been planned from the Scott Tenorman episode all along, amazing!!!!!
The Tom Cruise with Seaman on his back joke was funny, hahahaha.
Scott getting away pulling a Joker was cool, he'll be back.
Kyle & the others' speeches being bleeped was hilarious, hahahaha, it's Comedy Central's work.
Eric worrying about being half ginger was funny.
Tom Cruise dying on the moon with Jambu the orca was hilarious, hahahahaha:p:D, well, he asked for it, hahahaha.

After that epic 2-part episode, it was cool to see more other character cameos besides the revealing of Eric's father & The Killing Joke reference!!!!!

 I won't even explain my reasonings to this. It's way too easy.

Didn't see that coming. I assumed the bleeping, especially at the end, was for a joke. And we can't even watch it on SP-Studios? Lame.

I didn't see this episode but I don't think that disqualifies me from saying this...

After the last Mohammed incident a few years ago - and throwing in the fact that now Muslim groups are threatening to take action - is it any surprise that this episode ended up becoming a victim of extreme censoring the way it has? When you push the envelope you risk consequences, and that's what happened last night. I'm sure going into this Parker and Stone knew what they were risking. They'd have to be crazy to be angry at something like this. They should have seen it coming.

South Park is lucky to have the freedom of speech that it's had for 13 years, and few shows ever stay in the news for as long as South Park has. But sometimes there are lines you can't cross. And when Muslim groups are sending threats to the people making this show you can't blame Comedy Central for trying to protect itself.

I see everyone is angry that this happened, but you also have to look at it from the other side as well.

Comedy Central would never willingly throw South Park to the curb, if they ever did, the network would cease to exist. They literally have NOTHING besides South Park, Jon Stewart and Colbert (the latter two wouldn't be able to power the the entire network)

South Park is an insanely relevant cash cow and is always the top rated cable telecast of the night whenever it airs, if CC was to let Trey & Matt walk, they'd be writing a tombstone for their network.

That being said, I could see Trey & Matt getting mad enough that they don't renew their contracts, but I'd think CC and them will patch it up by next year.

So much fail and the week isn't even over. I hope Matt and Try gets Comedy Central back for this. Making future episodes 10 times more offensive just to prove something?

You know, various media keep saying that Mecha Streisand destroying La Casa Bonita is a possible reference to the Islamic threats since that's the name of Matt & Trey's production office. Casa Bonita was also a real restaurant that was depicted in one episode, though. Am I the only one who thinks it's most likely that it was just another reference to the series' history?

So we do have confirmation that Comedy Central added all of the censored parts, except maybe the end. Or maybe comedy central did add the last part as well, because it mentioned Mohammad.

Comedy Central isn't acting like Cowards, they are acting like a business, and they do not want their highest rated show to be canceled due to some radicals.

Both sides are currently speaking from a position of ignorance, because we don't yet know which bleeps were added by Comedy Central. We'll have to see what the inevitable interviews/articles reveal.

My gut instinct is that the bleeps of Mohammed's name were added. The bleeps at the end were just too perfect to be unintentional -- there'd be no other reason for them to do a really long, straightforward "I learned something today" speech. What Trey & Matt probably aren't seeing at the moment, since they're so upset over CC adding censorship on their own (which is unprecedented, despite the show's controversial history), is that the bleeps of Mohammed's name actually added to the humor as well. Although we'll have to see about reruns of #200. If they were to bleep all of those too... the episodes wouldn't really even make sense.

I agree. This just reeks. Matt and Trey deserve kudos for at least trying to stand up to terrorists. But their network let them down. Let America down as far as I'm concerned. From now on I'm calling Comedy Central Cowardly Central.
