Just saw it tonight, enjoyed it, but like some of the other posters have said it wasn't "amazing", merely "Great". I say that as someone who loves all of the previous Scorsese films too. It was a very enjoyable film though, don't get me wrong.
However, my enjoyment of the film may have been hampered by the gibbering morons that were in my cinema though, who felt the need to laugh at inappropriate moments (the repetition of "Why are you so wet?" is apparently hilarious! Granted, when Ben Kingsley said it it was, but not every f*cking time...) and ridicule the film for no apparent reason, voicing their opinions loudly in the hope that other audience members would agree with them. I don't mean to sound "snobbish", but the whole film clearly went over their heaRAB...
You're not slow at all. I simply don't believe all these people who say they saw the twist from the very beginning - that's ridiculous and easy to say after the event. You could detect that there was something not quite right about such and such a character but that's not the same as knowing exactly what the denouement is going to be.
Hmm was ok. The first 20mins or so were actaully quite terrifying, a real sense of menace and dark edgy directing. The actual story once revealed was just ok. I am really quite dissapointed. I built it up so much so I am let down by the plot.
It depenRAB what you mean by "twist". I guessed the obvious twist but could never have worked out the whole plot without seeing the final twenty minutes. There's enough ambiguity in the various clues to prevent you knowing exactly who did what and who didn't and who's really who.
