"Shrek Forever After" Pre-Release Discussion (Spoilers)

Eh...
On the terms of being to long for a sequel you could say the same thing but don't underestimate nostalgia factor.

There is no way every person who saw and enjoyed the first two films, both children and adults alike, just instantly forget about them.

It hasn't really been to long. The last movie came out when I was 13 or 14 and at that time I still had memories from the first two movies.
Yeah. It felt like something was missing. I felt Shrek the Third was alright but it wasn't as good as the first two films.

You know, I'm actually looking forward to this. I know, I know, "Fool me Twice", but the Shrek franchise has this weird air about it that makes me want to keep up with it even if odds are it's going to be awful.

Besides, doesn't this one bring back Lord Farquad? That alone is worth seven bucks...

Eh, I began to lose interest in Shrek the second Shrek 2 came out and Dreamworks decided to franchise it. The original Shrek wasn't meant to have a sequel and the producers basically admitted that money was the motivating factor in their making a part 2 and onward. In short order, Shrek became the very thing it was originally meant to parody: a Disney-esque cash cow project that the studio will trot out whenever they want to make a quick buck.

Shrek has become pure product now, so I don't care what Dreamworks does with it anymore.

Well, the one bad movie was the most recent one, which raises worry that it's run out of ideas. I won't write this off until I see some reviews, though. It's certainly possible they could return to form. I don't think it's more likely than not, but it's possible.

I read a summary about what the film is going to be about, and after reading it, I'm definitely planning to skip this movie. After all,
do we really need a Shrek version of "It's A Wonderful Life"?

Hm... looks interesting. Personally I didn't really care to watch the Third since it didn't seem as appealing a sequel like the Second one was, but I'll give this a try.

..Am I the only one who really liked Shrek the Third? o_0

Because he's awesome. :p

I believe it'll be in theaters, last I checked, in November 2010. I may be wrong.

They announced it along with this and the Puss n' Boots movie.

If there is one person that really liked Shrek the Third surely they're others. :p
I didn't hate Shrek the Third or not, not like it I just felt it could've been better. For me it was like it was missing something but still good.

So they're not naming it "Shrek Goes Forth"?

At least they're not ripping off Blackadder titles anymore.

Also, REALLY did not want to see Fiona in that getup.

Oh hell yeah.
One of my favorite parts in Shrek the Third was Gingerbread Man's life flashing before his eyes and that one bit we see Lord Farquad had filled me with joy.

Well, it looks like it might be better than the third, but goodness knows my brother will drag us to see it anyway :p

Fat Puss in Boots is definitely my cat so I snickered a bit.
