Well with two 13-episode series, it's pretty much just one 26-episode series, which is why I don't get why they didn't just make one 26-episode series.

Don't say that! Gainax isn't Gonzo...

I'm sure that will happen eventually.
 
It looks like Gurren Lagaan animation but less insane.

Looks awesome though, not feeling the OP but the show looks awesome. I wonder what the premise is.

Hey, where the heck is the Gainax bounce. I didn't see any of that.
 
Episode 9 had three Gainax references
1. ANIME LURSBIANS!!
2. Gainaxing....MAJOR Gainaxing (heh heh, omune-sama=Breast Goddess)
3. I recognize the doll that Makina was fixing was one of the beastmen from that bathhouse Gurren Lagann episode.

And man, that cat is really starting to freak me out. When it did that thing the eyes...(shivers). Also, I think I'm starting to get what the thing really is but I need a few more clues to help me out.

Oh yeah, I actually watched the ED song this time instead of skipping it, yeah, due to the foreshadowing at the end, Kagami is so going to become a monk or something.

EDIT: Reading the comments on YT, I realized that they changed the ED pics so that it shows Kagami all monk-ified so yeah.

The last time there was "... (aka The New Gainax Show) Talkback and Speculation", it ended up being my favorite anime of last year. The animation looks good, although it could use more insanity and some Gainax bounce.
 
I forgot to post it last night, and you beat me to it! At least that means you're watching it. This was the best episode in a while, mostly because of the things you mentioned, like the lesbian Breast Goddess, creepy cat, Gurren Lagann bathhouse beastman, the most obvious Gainax reference yet, the lesbian Breast Goddess... Sorry, did I already say that? Anyway, nice additions to the ED. By "foreshadowing", I assume you mean clips that pretty much translate to "KAGAMI BECOMES A MONK SOON! KEEP WATCHING!" He looks way cooler as a monk, and I can't wait to see him as one in whatever episodes he becomes one.

Yeah, that's not so much forshadowing as it is, "HEY WERE GONNA TOSS THIS IN SOON! SEE, KAGAMI WASN'T IN THE SHOW FOR NOTHING! WE'RE TOTAL GENIUSES AT CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. WATCH SEASON 2!"

Haha, this is looking to become like a certain other Gainax show where the primary male protagonist doesn't do much until after his "aniki" dies (I'm guessing the season one finale), then he takes over his position for the rest of the series. Of course, in this case, Makina has pretty much been the primary protagonist for the whole series so far anyway, which Keisei hasn't been at all, unlike the certain other "aniki". Anyway, this show is definitely getting better, even though I'm sure it will never be as good as the most well-known Gainax shows, the most well-known of which (probably) just got its new material licensed by FUNimation, the lovely company bringing you this very show.
 
Yes, I would consider FLCL to be a rest from the cluster***** and wall-banger EoE was.

I mean, the japanese VA's literally choked each other during the recording.
 
Yea ep 9 was pretty interesting not only for the LESBIAN BREAST GODDESS lolz, but for some of the little plot developments.

I never believed the cat was a figment of Ouri's imagination, but I'm surprised why Makina seems able to see it.

I've been expecting him to become a contracted monk for awhile so the ED doesn't really spoil much. Just wondering when it happens.

One of the things I wonder if since we don't know anything about Ouri's heritage and it doesn't even seem like Keisei knows or is willing to talk if he does.

We heard in ep 8 I believe with that younger looking Shikabane with blonde hair and the big hammer say that her contracted monk was descended from a special line and because of it she was stronger then the other shikabane's.

Maybe Ouri has a similar bloodline in him.
 
This character designs look like a cross between Blood+ and Fooly Cooly to me. I wonder if that indeed is what Gainax is going for, taking Production I.G.-style characters and situations and making them a lot more insane and fanservice-y.

I might see the first couple of episodes and see if its alright. I mean it looks like the kind of show could go either way so I'll just have to wait and see if it's going to be one I like.

So it looks like the s*** is starting to hit the fan now that Aizen has met up with his Arrancar brethren....wait a minute, wrong show. Although, considering that this is a GAINAX production, it's more like its going to ram against the fan, shred it into pieces and then decimate it with a Giga Drill Breaker. However, this is a 12 episode season so they have to fit in a lot of fighting within the remaining two episodes.

Lesbian omune-sama returns? I thought for sure she was a one-shot character.

What....was with...the schoolgirls....getting eaten in like five seconRAB....It came out of freaking nowhere like something out of Inuyasha.

Oh my god, it's like Nia and Allen Walker from D. Gray Man corabined into the same being! I mean, look at Hokuto's eyes and the hair. Also, she looks like something directly out of "The Ring."

And it looks like we know Makina's motivation. Go kick their Shikabane butts.
 
Still on ep 9, so forgive my ignorance on the latest ep.

So, according to the new ending animation, our boy Ouri is eventually going to become a Monk like his brother. I wonder who he'll end up being partnered with. I want to say Makina but that might involve Big bro biting the big one (wow, this so feels like Kamina/Simon); that and it seems the monkhood would prefer to off unattached hime's than to transfer them. Maybe crazy lesbian stalker will get her wish and have a taste at death and follow in her Makina's footsteps? I'd love to see the type of relationship she and Ouri would have.

So, the cat isn't random afterall. Ouri had the cat when he was younger and after it died, it started to appear to it. Makina seems to see it as well and I have a hinting suspicion unless otherwise noted, all shikibane hime's can see it. What the heck is it, though? She said she was him, but Makina saw it, so it can't be a part of his psyche. Ah, mysteries.
 
First we had Ichigo fighting the hollows, now this? They better fit more Gainax goodness into the next two episodes, but at least there's next season. Or I guess it could be Inuyasha, with Miroku fighting demons. And we have a new character who seems to be a corabination of several. I'm sure the whole next season will be about Makina beating these new guys.
