Shikabane Hime (aka The New Gainax Show) Talkback

Designs look a bit generic. I wonder if this is their "A" team or "B" team. Most people agree that Mahoromatic and This Ugly Yet Beautiful World were made by Gainax's "B" team.

Gainax sure has come a long way in their production values though.

Well that would be crazy, I mean if that's Ouri and Ouri shows a major interest in Makina and....
....
....HAPPY THOUGHTS!

(you know, knowing Gainax, they may just actually go down that route)

I dunno, they made Drilling of all things epic, so how hard can fighting vampires be for them? I'm going to guess lots and lots of Soul Eater jabs.

Looks like Blood+, only with movie Saya instead.

Lots of frowning.

And also a lot of 'confused boyfriend moping around, wondering if he should be dating a vampire slayer...'

EWWWWWW!!

Its eww already since she's, you know, dead and all but stiull.... EWWWWW

I'm liking this show and where it's going. And indeed: this stinks of Arrancar. Then again, I always like it when there is a group of big baRAB who are tougher than the normal monsters of the week.

Well it looks like it's two more episodes until the end and it looks like the story is wrapping up quite nicely (apparently this episode was up two days ago and I'm just now getting the subscription update. Weird)

So we finally get some backstory on Keisei and Mr. Aizen wanna-be. Seriously, he's leading a group of bad guys, wants to destroy them all and has an item like the Hogyuku. If that's not straight up Aizen, I don't know what is. Anyway, it's really painful to see that they were such good frienRAB until now.

Oh my god, that one Shikabane was a...guy? (TRAP! TRAP! TRAP!)

I'm glad that Ouri, even though she died, is not emoing out over that one Shikabane Hime's death unlike whiny McCryemo....I mean, Shinji or Naota or pre-badass Simon would do. God it's so great to have a normal Gainax male protagonist for once.

Things are not looking to good for Keisei right now. I really hope Ouri snaps out of it soon enough.

(Last note: DO NOT GO ON WIKI FOR THIS SHOW! YOU WILL BE SPOILED!)

Oh, you know they'll be making out by the end of the series.

If there's one thing Gainax does well, its makeout sessions

EDIT: My answer to the question of the premise earlier

THIS IS NOT BLOOD+

okay its not but when I hear undead girl, I think "Vampires!"

It's time for another game of "Count the references to previous Gainax works)

1. One of the demons reaching out to Makina (the one we could actually see) looked like the splitting image of Viral.

2. Keisei has a Vespa. Need I say more?

So now that its sub...I mean, now that my "magic" is at "full power" we come to the show that I've been anticipating for the better part of the summer. First and foremost, I'm going to agree with a previous poster and say that this is most likely Gainax's "rest" series after the awesomeness of Gurren Lagaan as the story seems a little more mysterious (NOT EVA MYSTERIOUS, CALM DOWN) than usual. There is (so far) no philisophical messages, no phallic imagery, and, sadly, apparantly no Gainax bounce.

I'm gonna give everybody a minute to take that in (though to be fair Makina is pretty cute...in a dead person sort of way)

Makina is pretty awesome. She's obviously a deadpan snarker but has that air of constant depression. Not so much as its annoying as it is that it looks like there's always something on her mind. Oh and she kicks serious ass. I mean it. She was owning some serious undead-vampire butt there with her two guns. So much so that I bet she could give Revy from Black Lagoon a run for her money.

As for the male protagonist, Ouri, he's fine. So far, he seems to be the most normal male guy I've ever seen in a Gainax show. Even still we don't know much about him outside that he doesn't seem to be afraid of death. Well, he's not gar like Simon, not wimpy like that kid from Mahoromatic and not emo like Shinji/kamina's death Simon so that's pretty good.

I'll be following this series and keeping you posted. Check it out.

BTW, the ED has a very pretty song.

Not only is this guy Aizen, Keisei looks like Ichigo and Shikabane are like Hollows. Emo kiRAB are normal Gainax male protagonists, so Ouri is unsusual. Ouri is so going to kill Keisei...

This anime falls under similar titles like Hell Girl, Ga-Rei and many other supernatural genre animes.

In this anime, it's about a girl who was presumably "dead". But unfortunately can't totally pass on to the afterlife until she's hunt down these 100 corpses. Strange? Oh yeah. Yet, it's an interesting anime nonetheless.

For me at least, it went off with a good start.

Adding to my previous post... where's the hype? I'm sure it's not Gurren Lagann good and that it's missing some of the best Gainax elements, but it's still the new Gainax show, from the studio that brought us Neon Genesis Evangelion, FLCL, and Gurren Lagann, and even if it's not as good as any of those, they can still market it as such, and there should be hype because of that. With no hype, that's the only reason I'm going to watch it.

I too am suprised at the lack of hype but now that I think about it, Gurren Lagaan wasn't as popular as it is now back when it was coming out. Heck, I just heard about it because someone at another site had Yoko as their av and they told me about it.

Crap has hit the fan. Kesei is dead and Ouri is now Makina's new contract monk, though it seems she's going to wear down his energy if she fights like she did this ep.Thank goodness Traitor monk was there to heal.... holy crap, Traitor Monk helped Ouri?! Wonder if that talisman did more than just restore him.

Anywho, guess this means Ouri has got a lot of training to undergo now. Lets see if he live up to his brother's and Makina's expectations

The spoilers burn my eyes! Not that I didn't already know this was going to happen. Where did you see this? I just checked all four sites FUNimation puts this on and all of them only have 1-11.
